Abstract: The present invention proposes methods for obtaining concentrated polyphenol extracts resulting from the stirring process, through a step in which a partially purified beer is placed into contact with a resin that adsorbs the polyphenols, followed by a step in which the polyphenols adsorbed onto said resin are recovered. The invention also relates to the extracts thus obtained, which feature remarkable properties, as well as to several applications for these extracts.

Abstract: An automatic high speed hooping station for horizontal hooping of diverse packages contains a barrier device to effect entry of packages, one by one, along their direction of travel, followed by a conveyance assembly. The conveyance assembly includes a rolling double transfer belt, followed in turn by a take-up table provided with an optical detector at its extremity. Along the conveyance assembly there moves reciprocally a push- and loading device for being introduced into an upward travel and holding assembly formed by an ascending platform, a holder trapdoor in a hooping position in an arc of a hooping device, and an upper package discharge device operating by lateral disengagement from a pile of the packages onto an exit ramp. The discharge device includes a push arm articulatably mounted around a point actuated by a cam. The assembly may be moved in translation under the surveillance of a detector.

Abstract: A cardboard package for a group of bottles or any containers of a generally cylindrical shape has a flat binder encircling its lateral surfaces. The binder is held in the plane of equilibrium of the full package by deformable structures on each of the corners of the lateral surfaces.When the binder is pulled the deformable structures collapse thus reducing the periphery of the package and the excess loop of the binder can be used as a handle. Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided for identifying beer barrels and the like by means of omnidirectional reading of coded labels affixed to the top end face of each barrel. The apparatus and method provides for machine readability of the coded labels and the subsequent systematic handling of the barrels through the use of a particular code label arrangement using multiple labels and multiple code scanners. In accordance with this method, four labels having identical codes are placed in such an array that pairs of labels are oriented at an angle of about 45.degree. relative to each other. A pair of spaced optical code readers scan the code bearing end faces of the barrels as they are conveyed through an identification region. The scanning beams are spaced by a distance greater than the diameter of the barrels and are arranged to converge at a location remote from the conveyor at an angle of about 45.degree..
