Abstract: A multi-function apparatus includes a body, an image reading unit, a document cover and a locking member. The image reading unit is movable between a closed position and an opened position. The document cover is movable between a closed position and an opened position. The locking member is movable to a first position and a second position and includes a first engagement portion and a second engagement portion. In response to a movement of the document cover to the opened position, the locking member moves to the first position and locks the image reading unit to the closed position. In response to a movement of the image reading unit to the opened position, the locking member moves to the second position and locks the document cover to the closed position.

The controller determines whether information concerning pixels in the memory indicates edge positions or edge absence in in read-image data concerning a sheet, detects an upstream leading-end position and a downstream leading-end position, detects upstream continuing pixels and downstream continuing pixels, detects an upstream lateral-end position and a downstream lateral-end position, calculates a line representing an upper end of the sheet based on the upstream leading-end position and the downstream leading-end position, calculates an upstream corner position and a downstream corner position based on the upstream and downstream lateral-end positions and the line representing the upper end of the sheet, and calculates a width of the sheet based on the upstream corner position and the downstream corner position.

A reading device has a placement, device, a specification device, a detection device, a storage device, and an identification device. The specification device specifies a position on the paper medium placed on the placement device. The detection device detects the position specified on the placement device by the specification device. The storage device stores associated information that is information in which a mark corresponding position corresponding to a predetermined position in which a mark is arranged is associated with paper medium information. The identification device refers to the associated information, and identifies the paper medium information when the position on the placement device detected by the detection device is the mark corresponding position.

Abstract: An attachment structure for detachably attaching a workpiece holder to a movable body used in embroidery stitching in a sewing machine. The movable body is movable in a horizontal plane in synchronism with a reciprocating motion of a sewing needle in order to move the workpiece relative to the needle. The workpiece is supported on the workpiece holder held by the movable body. The attachment structure includes pair of pins disposed at one of the workpiece holder and the movable body, pair of engaging grooves engageable with the pins and formed at remaining one of the movable body and the workpiece holder, projecting body disposed at one of the workpiece holder and the movable body, and resilient member engageable with the projecting body and disposed at remaining one of the movable body and the workpiece holder.
