Abstract: A method for producing a functional colloid during which particles are reactively fragmented in a mechanical manner in a dispersant in the presence of a modifying agent so that the modifying agent is chemically bound, at least in part, to the fragmented colloid particles.

Abstract: Cationically stablished aqueous silica dispersion, method for its production and its use. A method is described for the production of cationically stabilised silica in which silica is cationically stabilised in the form of an aqueous dispersion or a powder by mixing with an acid aminosilane solution. A cationically stabilised silica powder may be obtained by removing the solvent. The cationically stabilised silica dispersion obtained is highly storage stable. Mixing with organic binding agents such as PVA is possible without a significant increase in viscosity. The dispersions are particularly suitable for coating slips for printing media, such as inkjet paper, but also for the surface treatment of substrates, e.g. for the hard coating of plastics, or in parting compounds or abrasives and polishing agents.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the dispersion of fine-particle surface-modified inorganic powders in liquid media, with use of siloxanes. A process for the preparation of a dispersion of inorganic particles in a liquid medium is described, in which inorganic particles which have been surface-modified so that they have at least one organic group on the surface are mixed in a liquid medium with an organosiloxane, where at least one organic group of the organosiloxane corresponds to the at least one organic group on the surface of the inorganic particles.
