Patent number: 4230391Abstract: An electrical contact is disclosed for termination to an electrical conductor. The contact includes a body portion having an active contact element at one end for engagement with a compatible contact and a terminal element at the other end adapted to be terminated to a conductor. The terminal element includes a pair of elongated, spaced conductor engaging arms having inside edges which define a uniformly tapered, inwardly diverging slot extending from the distal end of the terminal element for receiving the conductor. The inside edges of the arms are beveled for piercing insulation about the conductor. The arms have a generally uniform cross section extending substantially the length of the slot. The slot cooperates with the arms to provide substantially uniform normal forces on the conductor as the conductor is moved inwardly along the slot for termination purposes.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 1978Date of Patent: October 28, 1980Assignee: Bunker Ramo CorporationInventor: Josef Keglewitsch

Patent number: 4221448Abstract: A connector having a resilient contact that makes a rolling contact with the conductor pads of a printed circuit board instead of a wiping contact therewith. According to the invention, a resilient contact has a first portion which is initially in the path of a board to be inserted in the connector and is displaced along the path as the card is inserted. A second portion of the resilient contact has a bulge which follows in the direction of movement of the first portion, but applies a continually increasing lateral force against the conductor pad as the board continues to be inserted. The invention also includes a latching device for latching the circuit board securely in the connector body.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 1978Date of Patent: September 9, 1980Assignee: Bunker Ramo CorporationInventors: Bernard A. Patent number: 4216535Abstract: A system for automatically deploying a moored sensor array utilizing an elongated cylindrical container with a semispherical weighted nose which will assume a glide angle with respect to the horizontal and descend in a glide path. Cable to a surface buoy is dispensed from the container during the descent with sufficient scope (ratio of cable length to depth) to permit the surface buoy to move about in response to ocean currents without overstressing the cable. A sea anchor suspended from the buoy by an elastic member with extra length of cable between the suspended sea anchor and the buoy isolates wave motion of the buoy from the anchor on the ocean floor. Upon impact with the ocean floor, a switch in the nose of the container is closed to lock up the cable and eject an array package from the container. The array package contains buoyant material to cause it to float upwardly while paying out sensors attached along a length of cable packed in the array package.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 1978Date of Patent: August 5, 1980Assignee: Bunker Ramo CorporationInventor: Derek J. Patent number: 4208626Abstract: An apparatus useful in a system for analyzing an input waveform for generating precisely-timed strobe sampling pulses. In response to detection of the waveform leading edge, a timing source operating at a very high frequency initiates a series of strobe pulses which occur at a considerably lower frequency. The strobe pulses are then used to successively sample the waveform. Depending upon the time duration of the input waveform, the waveform can be sampled at different effective rates by utilizing the same series of strobe pulses and disregarding selected samples.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 1978Date of Patent: June 17, 1980Assignee: Bunker Ramo CorporationInventor: Roland S.
