Abstract: A method and a machine for continuously transferring starting sheets for the electrolytic refining of metals, particularly copper, from the horizontal into the vertical position for introduction into a stand in which the starting sheets are stored for subsequent suspension at equal intervals in the electrolytic refining baths, the sheets being taken up by their cathode bars and being advanced continuously at a substantially uniform speed along a path of movement which changes continuously from the horizontal to the vertical and are successively raised over the transition in the path of movement from the horizontal to the vertical.

Abstract: A process and apparatus for the continuous mechanical fabrication of starting sheets for the electrolytic refining of metals, especially copper, from electrolytically deposited sheets which have already been cut to certain dimensions and straightened, the sheets being continuously moved forward along a predetermined path of movement at a substantially constant rate of advance and a movement component directed parallel to the path of movement of the sheets, of which the speed substantially corresponds to the rate of advance of the sheets, being imparted both to the components to be connected to the sheets and to the tools, at least when they are acting directly or indirectly on the sheets.
Abstract: Arrangement for withdrawing material from the bottom portion of a silo having an inclined silo bottom and a discharge funnel at the lowest point of the silo bottom, comprising a conveying screw which is disposed above the inclined silo bottom and which on the one hand is rotatable about its longitudinal axis and on the other hand moves along the silo bottom and which conveys the material in the direction towards a discharge funnel at the lowest point of the silo bottom, and wherein the drive of the screw is disposed outside the silo wall and the bearing of the screw is disposed at the opposite end outside the discharge funnel and on the latter, both the drive and the discharge funnel being rotatably mounted to permit a sweeping movement of the screw over the silo bottom.
Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for regenerating a pressure filter in which the liquid to be filtered is flown through a filter medium arranged in such a way as to partition the interior of the filter housing into a pressure chamber adapted to receive the liquid to be filtered and into a filtrate receiving chamber from which the filtrate is discharged, wherein, for the purpose of regenerating the filter, the introduction of liquid is interrupted, this step being accompanied by the introduction of a pressurized gas into the pressure chamber of the filter in order substantially completely to remove from the filter both the liquid not yet filtered and the filtrate still present, and wherein, upon completion of the emptying step, the introduction of pressurized gas into the pressure chamber of the filter is interrupted and the filter medium on its side facing the pressure chamber is washed by means of a washing medium, this step being accompanied by the introduction of a pressurized gas into the filtrate receiving c
Abstract: Objects in long lengths such as strip, wire, rod, sections or fibres which have been surface treated in a preceding step are, according to the present invention, liberated from entrained surface treating agent or agents by a method for stripping off said agent or agents, washing and drying said objects, said method being performed continuously and the individual steps viz. the stripping off, the washing and the drying taking place sequentially against the feeding direction of the object in question. Also an apparatus for performing the method is described. The apparatus includes a fluid inlet assembly and a fluid discharge assembly, there being a passage through said assemblies through which the object can pass in an object-feeding direction. Liquid is discharged through a jet nozzle, which surrounds the object, in an opposite direction. The liquid is recirculated, and can be transferred to a station which is prior in treatment.
