Abstract: A network system includes a first data source device with a primary interface and one or more second data source devices with a secondary interface disposed in electrical communication with the first data source device. A common data source device communicates with the first data source device and the second data source device(s). A serial string with a backbone is electrically connected to the primary interface and to the secondary interface. At least one endpoint device is electrically connected to the backbone via an endpoint interface. The primary interface is constructed and arranged initially as a master communication source for the serial string. The secondary interface is constructed and arranged to monitor messages transmitted by the primary interface and to take over as the master communication source if the secondary interface does not detect messages from the primary interface after a predetermined amount of time.

Abstract: A display backlight assembly includes a light guide panel having first and second principal faces and at least one edge surface. A display screen is aligned with and substantially perpendicular to the first principal face of the light guide panel. The assembly also includes a light source with one or more white LEDs and one or more first color LEDs, where each first color LED emits a first color of light that is red, green, blue, or yellow. Each white LED and each first color LED is positioned to emit light into the light guide panel. A controller is electrically coupled to the light source and capable of independently setting an intensity value for each white LED and for each first color LED. The controller controls illumination of the LEDs independently as needed to provide backlighting with the selected intensity.

Abstract: A display assembly includes a first bezel part and a second bezel part each defining a substantially rectangular frame that encloses an open area. The first frame is sized and arranged to substantially align with the second frame. The second bezel part is capable of secure attachment to the first bezel part at an interface that defines at least one gap between the first frame and the second frame. A display screen has a display edge portion disposed in the gap between the first frame and the second frame. The display screen extends across the open area. Optionally, the display assembly includes an EMI screen and/or a touch screen aligned with the display screen and having an edge portion received in the gap, where the EMI screen, display screen, and touch screen are each individually removable from the display assembly.
