Abstract: A basket mounting arrangement for use in a domestic refrigerator, and in particular a bottom mount refrigerator has two baskets mounted in the freezer compartment, one above the other. The lower basket is mounted relative to the freezer compartment for movement relative thereto in and out of the open front of the freezer. The second upper basket is mounted on top of the first lower basket and is movable forward and backward of the first lower basket and also out of the open front of the freezer. The mounting of the upper basket relative to the lower basket permits a user to access a majority of the food articles in the bottom mount freezer by pulling the upper basket out of the freezer and thereby pull the lower basket from the refrigerator. The user can then push the upper basket back into the freezer to gain access to articles in the lower basket from the freezer.

Abstract: A refrigerator cabinet has a food storage compartment bounded by front facing vertical and horizontal walls. A pair of French doors are pivotally mounted to the refrigerator cabinet to close the open front of the refrigerator. In the closed position the doors have vertically extending confronting walls which include an intermediate sealing gasket extending along a major vertical portion of the confronting walls which are adapted to sealingly engage against each other to form a vertically extending seal. Upper and lower corner sealing gasket members are respectively positioned above and below the intermediate sealing gasket members and adjacent a corresponding horizontal wall of the cabinet. Each of the corner sealing gasket members has a first sealing surface adjacent the intermediate sealing gasket member to complete the vertical seal between the confronting walls of the doors when the doors are in a closed position.

Abstract: A refrigerator has French doors with vertically extending confronting side walls. At least one of the confronting side walls has a movable sealing gasketing member adapted to sealingly engage the other confronting side wall when the doors are in a closed position. The doors move between an open position and into the closed position through a temporary intermediate partially closed position. In the partially closed position the doors extend over the refrigerator compartment with temporary non-sealing vertically extending portions of the confronting side walls of the doors spaced apart from one another a predetermined gap distance. A first set of magnets are positioned in the doors at least along the temporary non-sealing vertically extending portions of the confronting side walls.

Abstract: A ceramic heater coil support bracket, suitable for use in a clothes dryer, supports a helically wound heating coil in spaced apart relation from a support surface or wall. The bracket includes a base adapted for securement to the support surface and a pair of spaced apart arms upstanding from the base defining an open slot extending across the bracket in a transverse direction above the base. Each of the arms includes a coil support post having an arrowhead shape extending inwardly toward of the slot. Each of the posts includes inner and outer coil receiving grooves adapted to receive consecutive turns of the coil. The posts are laterally offset from each other in the transverse direction of the slot so that the posts support different consecutive turns of the coil. The posts have a relatively flat upper surface having an arrowhead shape projecting into the slot with sloping inside and outside surfaces of the arrowhead tapering outwardly and downwardly from the top surface.

Abstract: A clothes dryer is disclosed having improved noise insulation characteristics which requires minimum alteration of existing dryer drum construction thereby adding relatively little additional cost over and above the cost of materials. The clothes dryer has a rotating dryer drum with steel bands or straps fastened about the periphery of outside surface cylindrical wall of the dryer drum to absorb noise created by articles tumbling within the dryer drum during operation. An adhesive material is laminated to the band which secures the band to the outside wall of the dryer drum. Baffle mounting screws passing through the dryer drum are used to secure ends and intermediate parts of the band to the dryer drum.

Abstract: A gasket assembly for use in side-by-side, or French doors for a refrigerator has door stops which bear the door closure forces by engaging the top and bottom walls of the refrigerator food compartment. The door stops form part of an edge flange of a retainer that extends along the length of the refrigerator door. The retainer acts as a seat for a flexible gasket and maintains the integrity of the flexible gasket seal alignment between the side-by-side doors. The advantage provided is that a thermal seal barrier is maintained along the entire length of the door by the door stops maintaining the gasket a constant distance from the top and bottom walls of the food compartment.

Abstract: A support bracket and a method for mounting a heating coil in a dryer or the like by means of such bracket is disclosed. The support bracket is a plate of unitary construction having one or more openings for receiving and supporting an insulating bushing and a pair of support legs adapted for engagement with slots in a support wall. At least one portion of the plate is folded upon itself to form a retaining rim for the bushing and reinforcing the support legs.

Abstract: Modular protector apparatus for oil-filled submergible electric motors that drive submergible pumps comprises pluralities of components that are interconnected in different system permutations to form protectors appropriate for different applications. The components include heads, chambers, bases, and interconnecting bodies. The bodies have fluid passages that are adapted to communicate with other components and that are opened and closed selectively to provide desired inter-component flow paths. By virtue of the invention, a wide variety of protector apparatus may be manufactured economically.

Abstract: Control apparatus for a sub-sea wellhead installation, for example of a satellite well, is disclosed which includes a plurality of control devices 80 each for providing a control function for the installation 10 and a connector 40, 45, 50 for connecting the devices 80 to the installation 10, each control device being independently engageable and disengageable with the connector 40, 45, 50. The connector includes a manifold 40 to which are connected a plurality of receptacles 50, each control device 80 being engageable with the the receptacle 50. The receptacles and control devices are preferably provided with complementary engageable portions 52, 54, 56; 82, 84, 86, which include hydraulic and electrical connectors 58, 60, 62, 70, 72; 88, 90, 92, 98, 100, so that control signals may be passed via the connectors 40, 45, 50 to the control devices 80 from a command installation and actuation signals may be passed from the control devices 80 through the connector 40, 45, 50 to devices on the installation 10.

Abstract: A refrigerator door tray assembly includes a refrigerator door with an inner liner having a cavity defined by a rear wall and two forwardly projecting supporting side walls. Each of the side walls includes an inwardly projecting shoulder having an upwardly facing ledge that slopes downwardly toward the rear wall at a predetermined angle. A tray is provided for insertion into the cavity between the side walls. The tray comprises upstanding walls each having an outwardly extending arm. The arm has a downwardly facing surface that slopes downwardly at the predetermined angle such that the downwardly facing surface of the arm is adapted to at least partially engage the ledge during insertion and lie flush on the ledge once inserted into the cavity. The tray further includes laterally extending flanges adapted to engage the ends of the supporting side walls so as to cooperate with the arms and ledges to positively locate the tray in the door cavity.

Abstract: A hinge structure is formed by at least two ears projecting from one side edge of a panel with each of the ears being provided with a lobe extending in the same direction from its respective ear and spaced from the edge of the panel to provide an undercut. The ears are adapted to be projected through cooperating slots in a second panel to which the first panel is to be hinged and slid laterally in the slots to position each ear on the opposite side of the second panel and out of alignment with its slot so that a portion of the second panel is received in the undercut or space between the adjacent lobe and the edge of the first panel. A tab moveable from an open position permitting insertion of the ear into one of the slots to a locked position to engage each ear in that one slot and prevent reverse movement of the first panel to move the lobes from behind the second panel is provided to lock the hinge parts together.

Abstract: The cabinet of an appliance with a downwardly opening door is stabilized by a pair of legs each pivotally mounted to the cabinet on an axis fixed to the cabinet and oriental relative to the cabinet so that pivotal movement of each leg above its respective pivotal axis moves the foot of the leg forwardly and downwardly into a supporting position or movement of the door to closed position retracts the legs to their initial position.

Abstract: A conventional clothes drier is provided with a rack structure mounted on the bulkhead that extends into and plugs the access opening to the drum of the drier. The rack is selectively mountable in either an operative extended position projecting cantilever fashion into the drier drum or alternatively in a retracted or storing position wherein the rack is contained within the bulkhead.

Abstract: A heater coil mounting is provided by means of a bracket having seats formed at or adjacent each axial end and into which an insulator through which the heater element passes, is adapted to be received. The bracket is mounted in position on a wall using tabs which cooperate with portions of the bracket to hold the bracket close to the wall and form a further portion of the seat to lock the insulator in position.

Abstract: A drum for a clothes drier formed from a cylindrical sleeve into which is inserted a pair of opposed head structures, each provided with a seat snugly received in the adjacent end of the sleeve and terminated by an abutment to limit the penetration of the head into the sleeve. Axially extending projections are provided at each end of the sleeve and these projections are bent around their adjacent seats thereby to hold the heads and sleeve together.

Abstract: An appliance frame having a score line formed by pressing metal to form a plurality of dimples each having a substantially straight severed edge extending out of the plain of the metal and arranged in a substantially straight line to form the score line, thereby to weaken the metal sufficiently that it may be manually bent to form a substantially right-angle bend at the score line.

Abstract: A glass top countertop range is mounted on a structure formed by a first box structure that fits through a hole in the countertop and is supported by a peripheral flange and a second, but inverted, box structure significantly smaller than the first box structure and telescopingly received in the first box structure to provide an air space between the two box structures. The top of the second box structure lies in face to face relationship with a glass top of the range and the glass top is secured to the and supported by the second box structure which in turn is supported in the first box structure.

Abstract: A one piece substantially W-shaped plastic clip has a pair of outer legs that are flexible and can move in a first direction toward an intermediate member that in turn is movable in a direction substantially perpendicular to the first direction of movement above described. Each leg has a notch on its side remote from the intermediate member and the intermediate member has a catch projecting from a side facing perpendicular to the first direction. The notches mount the clip to a first panel and the catch is adapted to cooperate with a second panel member to retain same in position.

Abstract: A drier drum bearing structure formed from a single piece of molded plastic to provide a right cylindrical outer bearing wall. The bearing structure is mounted on a non-circular access opening through the drier cabinet wall on a peripheral flange extending around the opening on the wall which is received within a mounting cavity formed in part between the outer cylindrical bearing surface and an inner wall and is held in position by means of bosses on the bearing structure cooperating with mating bosses on the peripheral flange to permit movement circumferentially about the access opening while substantially preventing axial movement.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a retractable undercarriage formed preferably by three supporting members, two of which are leg members and the third a wheel member. The support members are moved to either move the leg members into supporting position and retract the wheel member, or to move the leg members into the retracted position and the wheel member to the supporting position. When the leg members are in the retracted position and the wheel member in supporting position the end of the cabinet that would otherwise be supported by the foot members rest on further wheels so that the cabinet is completely supported on wheels and may be moved relatively freely about the floor.
