Abstract: The object of this invention is an apparatus (1) for detecting defects in at least one portion of leather, and for cutting the portion, that permits to perform faster and more efficiently than with currently known systems the operations of dilating, moving and cutting said at least one portion of leather, by supporting the leather on a curved surface that is extendible and rotatable around an axis in a monitored zone by suitable display means.

Abstract: The sharpening unit comprises two diamond grinding wheels 6,7 mounted on respective shafts 8, 9 rotatably supported by a carriage 14 movable away from and towards the cutting blade 4 of a leather splitting machine to bring the grinding wheels in contact with the blade bevel. Said shafts are housed in eccentric bushes 30, 31 rotatably engaged in said carriage and operable in angular rotation, which bushes can be fixed according to predetermined positions to give a desired mutual positioning to said diamond grinding wheels.

Abstract: A device to move the sharpening grinding wheels in a leather splitting machine close to and away from a cutting blade. The grinding wheels are rotatably supported on the end portions of respective arms the other ends of which are pivoted on a carriage. The carriage, slidably movable on guiding rods, through an actuator, moves the grinding wheels from a position in which the latter are engaged on the bevel of the cutting blade to a position in which they are not in contact with the blade. In order to bring the grinding wheels back to the operative position on the cutting blade bevel, spring means is provided between the carriage and a bar rigidly connected to the splitting machine.

Abstract: The invention relates to a machine for chamfering pieces of hide, leather and synthetic materials of small thickness, in which all the operating machine members, and particularly the rotary cup-shaped blade, the feed roller for feeding the piece to be chamfered and the grinder to sharpen the cup-shaped blade are driven by independent power units. Said machine is also provided with means for the non volatile storage of working programs and for the automatic execution of diversified operating phases according to said programs, with the possibility of interrupting the program, enabling the manual operation of the operating members, and of restoring it after the manual operation.
