Patent number: 11910813Abstract: This invention provides for a nanocomposite comprising a Vigna subterranea starch component and a Vigna subterranea soluble dietary fibre (SDF) component. Vigna subterranea is otherwise none as Bambara groundnut (BGN). In particular, this invention relates to a graft copolymer nanocomposite comprising starch derived from BGN and soluble dietary fibre derived from BGN. The nanocomposite of the invention is useful in several food applications, including as a replacement of other starches and the stabilisation of emulsions.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 2021Date of Patent: February 27, 2024Assignee: Cape Peninsula University of TechnologyInventors: Victoria Adaora Ebele Jideani, Yvonne Maphosa, Nontobeko Benhilda Gulu, Daniel Imwansi Ogiemwanva Ikhu-Omoregbe

Patent number: 10720894Abstract: A power amplifier is provided having an input for receiving a signal to be amplified that is associated with a fundamental frequency. An amplifier circuit of the power amplifier includes an active device for amplifying the input signal and an output for providing the amplified signal to a load. A load network is electrically interposed between the amplifier circuit and the output and includes fundamental frequency matching circuitry which presents an optimal resistance at the fundamental frequency. The load network further includes a parallel transmission line arrangement having, at the fundamental frequency, a one-eighth wavelength short-circuited stub and a one-eighth wavelength open-circuit stub. The fundamental frequency matching circuitry and the parallel transmission line arrangement cooperate such that the load network operatively presents an optimal resistance at the fundamental frequency, an open-circuit at a second harmonic frequency and a short-circuit at a third harmonic frequency.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 2017Date of Patent: July 21, 2020Assignee: Cape Peninsula University of TechnologyInventors: Safari Mugisho Moise, Clive Whaits

Patent number: 9383237Abstract: A fluid visualization and characterization system includes a measuring section with a housing defining a fluid flow path for fluid flow. The measuring section includes one or more transducers to emit ultrasonic signals into the fluid flow, and at least one receiver to receive reflections of the ultrasonic signal from reflectors in the fluid flow. The system includes a memory for storing data and a processor operatively connected to the memory. The processor comprises several modules. A velocity estimating module is configured to apply one or more velocity estimation algorithms to received reflections of the ultrasonic signal, or data indicative thereof, to determine a velocity profile of the fluid flow. A deconvolution module is configured to apply a deconvolution algorithm at least to the determined velocity profile to determine a true velocity profile of the fluid flow.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2013Date of Patent: July 5, 2016Assignees: CAPE PENINSULA UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, SP TECHNICAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF SWEDENInventors: Johan Wiklund, Rainer Haldenwang, Reinhardt Kotze
