Abstract: A connection assembly includes a connector and a coupler. The connector has a housing member, which is provided on an end with a plurality of air inlet pipes, one of which is a blocked pipe while all other ones are open pipes, and on another end with an air outlet pipe connected to an inflatable member. The coupler has a chamber internally defining a receiving space for holding the housing member therein and having a fixing end with a plurality of coupling pipes spaced thereon to connect with an air supply device. The air inlet pipes are inserted in the coupling pipes. An external detection system detects the internal pressure of respective coupling pipes to obtain a relative position of the blocked air inlet pipe on the connector, and accordingly regulates the air supplied by the air supply device to control the internal pressure of the inflatable member.

  • Patent number: 8745796
Abstract: A sensing device is configured for placing in an air cushion bed below air bladders thereof to detect an exact state of the bed in use, and includes a first and a second sheet connected together to define an air chamber therebetween. The air bladders and the air chamber are communicable with one another via inflation valves on the first sheet and are synchronously and identically inflated. First and second sensing elements are disposed outside and inside the air chamber, respectively. The first sensing element has deformation and acceleration sensors arranged thereon for monitoring how the bed reacts to a patient lying thereon and the manner in which the bed is being used. The second sensing element includes upper and lower conductive sensing sheets and an electrical connection state therebetween is used to detect whether the air bladders are sufficiently inflated. Thus, the air cushion bed is safer for use.

  • Publication number: 20130167301
Abstract: An air cushion bed includes an inflatable air mattress; a first sensing mat provided on an outer surface of the air mattress and including a first upper and a first lower sensing sheet with a first soft pad sandwiched between them; and a first determining module electrically connected to the first upper and lower sensing sheets. When the first sensing mat is compressed and the first upper and lower sensing sheets are electrically connected to each other via holes on the first soft pad, the first determining module determines there is a patient lying on the air mattress or the air mattress with a patient lying thereon is insufficiently inflated. A second sensing mat and a second determining module can be additionally provided on another outer surface of the air mattress opposite to the first sensing mat for the air cushion bed to determine both of the above two situations.

  • Publication number: 20130160237
Abstract: A power-operated caster brake mechanism includes a driving device having a driving motor; a linking mechanism having a shifting member connected to a moving bar of the driving motor, and two rotating members connected to two ends of the shifting member; a caster connected to each rotating member and including a wheel and a brake and direction-lock mechanism, the latter including a brake block located in a wheel support, and a pin connected at an end to the brake block and another end to the rotating member; and a mechanical switch connected to the moving bar. When the driving motor shifts the shifting member, the rotating members rotate the brake blocks to different positions, bringing the casters to a braked, a direction-locked, or a freely swiveling state. In case the driving motor is failed, the casters can still be set to a desired operating state with the mechanical switch.
