  • Patent number: 6499688
Abstract: An automated winding apparatus includes a deflection sheave for directing a flat filament onto a rotating take-up reel. The deflection sheave sequentially moves progressively farther away from the take-up reel in response to information provided by a proximity sensor which detects the position of the outermost filament layer accumulating on the reel. The deflection sheave initially may be moved toward the take-up reel after a predetermined length of filament has been wound.

  • Patent number: 6438226
Abstract: A splitter assembly is provided that comprises a terminal block for mounting to a main distribution frame and a splitter circuit for combining/splitting POTS signals and xDSL signals onto/from a single wire pair. The terminal block is pivotally mounted to a housing and the splitter circuit is on a card that is located in the housing. The terminal block may be mounted to the same housing that contains the splitter card. The POTS line contacts, xDSL line contacts and combined line contacts of the splitter circuit are connected to respective pairs of terminals in the terminal block.

  • Patent number: 6327414
Abstract: A apparatus and method are provided to provide a readily rearrangeable interconnection point between two fiber cables. A panel has a series of trays for holding joined fiber pairs. One of the cables is fanned out in equal length fan out tubes and fiber guides are located such that any fan out tube can be routed with its slack managed to any tray in the series of trays. As such, rearrangement of the fan out tubes along the series of trays is readily achieved. The complements of the other cable are routed to the other side of the trays. Inside the trays, the individual fibers are routed to joint holders. The trays are pivotally attached to the panel and hang at a downward angle. The trays are pivotable upward to allow access to lower trays. Opposed fibers are joined and the resulting joint is stored in the trays.

  • Patent number: 6325335
Abstract: A clip (10) is disclosed for mounting a optical fiber coupler (12) in a panel (14) of a device such as a horizontal coupler module (16). The clip (10) is formed of resilient spring steel and has first and second tabs (90, 100) with a portion (92, 102) extending away from the sides (86, 88) of the clip and a second portion (96, 106) which extends toward the sides. The clip (10) allows the clip and coupler (12) to be inserted from the front side (68) of the panel (14) and removed from the front side for inspection, testing and cleaning.
