  • Patent number: 4608284
Abstract: A label is provided consisting of a lamination of two layers. One of these layers is a printable layer capable of being heat shrunk onto a can the upper and bottom parts of which are tapered inwardly. The preferred material for this layer is polystyrene. The other layer is polypropylene the function of which is to add strength to the first layer and to trap there against the printing ink which is printed onto the polystyrene layer. The polypropylene permits undistorted perception of the printed material. The two materials cooperate to permit printing and label application processes.

  • Patent number: 4473064
Abstract: A solar heating panel unit is provided in the form of a plastic pouch having an internal chamber provided with a serpentine path. The pouch has two sides, one of which consists of a layer of anti-abrasive matte black plastic and a sealant inner layer of black medium density polyethylene film. The other side incorporates a reflective layer of aluminum foil. The pouch has inlets and outlets, whereat hardware fixtures are employed, consisting of threadably engaged parts having flanges between which is clamped a wall of the pouch. The pouch, or a plurality of such pouches, may be incorporated into systems wherein a cold water source is connected selectively through the pouch to a tank or through a boiler, whereof the boiler or the tank supplies a construction requiring heated water. Alternatively, the system may be such that the tank is excluded.

  • Patent number: 4434061
Abstract: A method and apparatus for continuously separating solids and liquid in a solids-liquid mixture are disclosed. In accordance with the invention, a separation zone for separating solids and liquids from a solids liquid mixture is provided in which the mixture is subjected to centrifugal force under low shear forces and low turbulence. In this zone, the flow rate is maintained to be less than the terminal settling velocity of the solids in the mixture. Further in accordance with the invention, the mixture is introduced into the separation zone from a zone of higher turbulence and higher flow rate than those of the separation zone, a minor part of the mixture in the other zone being removed to the separation zone. The major part of the mixture is removed from the other zone and discharged and returned to the mixture source in such a manner as to aerate the returned mixture. The separated solids are returned to the mixture source with the major part of the mixture.
