Patents Assigned to Cemvac System AB
  • Patent number: 8246629
Abstract: A delivery device for a monomer may include an elongate container designed to enclose one or more ampoules containing the monomer. The elongate container may include: a connection at a first end of the elongate container for delivering the monomer to a mixing device, pre-filled with a polymer, for preparation of bone cement composition under vacuum; a cap at a second end of the elongate container; at least one air inlet aperture in a wall of the elongate container; and a manually actuatable element for opening the one or more ampoules. The manually actuatable element may include: a knob; a draw rod; and one or more spikes. The knob may be in threaded engagement with the draw rod. An end of the draw rod may extend past the one or more ampoules. Turning the knob may cause the one or more spikes to penetrate the one or more ampoules.

  • Patent number: 7073936
Abstract: A method and an arrangement for successively feeding batches into a mixing vessel under partial vacuum for the preparation of bone cement. The arrangement includes an inner container communicating with the atmosphere and with the mixing vessel, which container is so arranged as to enclose a glass ampoule containing a liquid bone cement component and, on the other hand, a device for opening the ampoule so that its contents can be sucked into the mixing vessel under partial vacuum. An outer container encloses the inner container at least partially, and is arranged to communicate with the mixing vessel. The inner container, and the outer container, define a space filled with a proportional quantity of a second bone cement component, which is in powder form.

  • Patent number: 6648499
Abstract: A method and a device for preparation of bone cement. The constituent components of bone cement are mixed under vacuum in a closed mixing chamber, which has a vacuum connection (4), a moveable wall section (2), a device arranged to maintain the moveable wall section (2) in its initial position during the mixing process, an extrusion opening located opposite to the moveable wall section (2) and a device (9) arranged to openably seal the extrusion opening. The extrusion is performed by the moveable wall section (2) being brought to move towards the extrusion opening, by applying a force against the moveable wall section (2) using an extrusion tool (12). The moveable wall section (2) is set free after mixing is finished and thereafter forced towards the extrusion opening for compression of bone cement while the extrusion opening is sealed by the sealing device (9).

  • Patent number: 5252301
Abstract: The present invention relates to an arrangement for the manufacture of bone cement by mixing together its constituent components comprising a mixing cylinder (1) in the form of a tube with a bottom (2) and a lid (3) and inside the mixing cylinder an axially movable agitator (4). The agitator consists of a piston-like agitator disc (4a), which is perforated by channels (4a1), through which the components of the bone cement are caused to flow during the mixing procedure and an agitator rod (4b) resembling a piston rod operatively connected to the agitator disc (4a) and supported in the lid (3) in such a way that it is free to slide. The invention is characterized in that the agitator rod (4b) has an axial channel (4b1), which is closed off at the agitator disc (4a) in such a way that it is capable of being opened.
