Abstract: A below-knee orthosis comprises a footplate, which is carried by a connecting element projecting therefrom, the upper end part of which has a releasable coupling that can be coupled to an upper part of a patient's lower leg, a longitudinal section of the connecting element being formed of a spring element, which extends in a curved path at a radial distance from a fulcrum of the spring element, and said fulcrum being placed to be essentially aligned with the patient's ankle-joint axis.
Abstract: Lock mechanism for detachable connection of a prosthetic device to a sleeve element carried on the residuum of an amputee, comprising a locking pin (3,30,40,50) connected to the sleeve element and a seat (5) arranged on the prosthetic device, in which seat the locking pin is longitudinally inserted for arresting engagement with arresting elements (11,52). The locking pin (3,30,40,50) is flexible for bending at least in one plane coincident with the longitudinal axis of the locking pin, and is preferably also longitudinally elastic.
Abstract: A method for creating a flexible sleeve member for an amputation stump. The sleeve member is made of a thermoplastic elastic and transparent material. The sleeve member is shaped after a flexed limb, for instance a knee, which makes it easier to avoid foldings of the sleeve, which would otherwise be obtained at the back of the knee when a person wearing the prosthetic device sits down. By means of the sleeve member according to the invention, comfort is improved for a person wearing such a prosthetic device.
Abstract: A novel way of locking and unlocking an adjustment device for an artificial leg or arm makes it possible to perform an adjustment of the prosthesis, without necessitating disassembly of the prosthesis or the removal of the prosthesis from the patient. This facilitates the work in adjusting the translatory position and the angular position, and the adjustment device also offers a further degree of freedom by the addition of the possibility of distal adjustment. The novel combination provides a locking ring (40) on the adjustment head. The locking ring offers a stable, adjustable locking of the adjustment head against a coupling sleeve (50) on the stump, while at the same time fixing the translatory position of the prosthesis.
Abstract: An adjustment head is provided to attach an elongated member of an artificial leg to a prosthetic leg. The adjustment head includes an upper portion and a lower portion. The upper portion provides adjustment of the elongated member in a translatory direction. The lower portion, in combination with the upper portion, provides adjustment of the elongated member in an angular direction. In making the translatory adjustment, the screw provided for this purpose will not be subject to direct breaking forces by being angled due to any angular adjustment of the elongated member, such screw always being maintained in a fixed vertical alignment.
