    Abstract: Device and method to measure the gap between substantially static elements with a variable reciprocal position, used to adjust the reciprocal position of said elements to obtain a desired transit gap, comprising visual recording means connected to a processor equipped with at least display means, said processor being suitable to receive the images filmed by said visual recording means and to automatically compare said images with at least a pre-selected sample mask substantially reproducing the desired gap to be obtained, said processor being suitable to display, in numerical form on appropriate interface windows, the dimensional discrepancies between the image relating to the actual transit gap defined by said elements as filmed by said means, and said pre-selected sample mask.

    Abstract: Method to measure the variations in section of a hot rolled bar (12) as it is fed, the method including the generation of a variable frequency magnetic field by at least a generator device (14) defining an inner space (214) for the transit of the bar (12), the variations in section of the bar (12) in transit being measured by a receiver device (15) suitable to monitor the perturbations induced on the magnetic field by the variations in the area of section of the bar (12) in transit. The receiver device (15) is arranged coaxial and inside the generator device (14) and defines inside the same a surface for the transit of the bar. The (12) has a transverse section of (A.sub.S "), and the value ("f.sub.0 ") of the frequency of the magnetic field generated by the generator device (14) is suitable to minimize the influence of the real temperature of the bar (12) on the measurement.

    Abstract: A method to control the drawing of rolled stock in a segment of the rolling line includes measuring the section of the rolled stock passing through is made by a first detector located at the outlet of the semi-finishing block and by a second detector located at the inlet to the finishing block. The method also carries out at least a measurement of the section of the rolled stock with a third detector located at the outlet of the finishing block, the drawing action being controlled and regulated by a control unit by comparing the measurements of the section at the outlet of the semi-finishing block, at the inlet to the finishing block and at the outlet thereof with the corresponding values memorized in tables in the control unit.
