  • Publication number: 20050278036
Abstract: A method for restoration of human or animal bone anatomy includes introduction into a bone of an expansible implant according to a single determined plane intrinsic to the implant, positioning the expansible implant in the bone in order to make the expansion plane intrinsic to the implant correspond with a bone restoration plane, opening out the implant in the bone restoration plane with a view to forming a cavity inside the bone, and injecting a filling material into the cavity containing the implant. The implant includes a single determined expansion plane intrinsic to the implant, a device for positioning the implant in the bone, and a device for opening out the implant in the expansion plane.

  • Publication number: 20050256220
Abstract: A fluid cement for medical use for bone reconstruction, in particular for filling the vertebral body, and a binary composition which is intended for the preparation of such a cement. A device for conditioning the binary composition, and a method of preparing a bone cement from a binary composition. The fluid cement according to the invention comprises: a) approximately 70% to 85% by weight of a polymer comprising a polymethylmethacrylate and a methylmethacrylate monomer and b) approximately from 15 to 30% by weight of a radio-opaque composition. Preferably, the radio-opaque composition comprises a radio-opacifier, such as barium sulphate and zirconium dioxide, in a mixture with a calcium phosphate, for example apatite hydroxide.

  • Patent number: 6923989
Abstract: A method for preparing a calcium phosphate pasty material for injection which after, setting, is designed to form an apatite material consists in: producing from water and calcium phosphates pasty mixture capable of developing, hardening and forming a hydroxyapatite. The method is characterised in that it consists in adding to the calcic phosphates or to the pasty mixture before it is injected a methicone having relative to the mixture more than 0.30 wt. % and less than 10 wt. %. The resulting material can be injected, that is it can be transported in pasty form into a conduit under moderate pressure levels. The material sets on the site of implantation and hardens to form an apatite biomaterial in a manner similar to known methicone-free calcium phosphate mixtures.
