The media kit comprises a plurality of main media components, a plurality of distribution media components, a first width adjustment component, and a second width adjustment component. The method is for installing replacement media in an evaporative cooler is disclosed. The method comprises arranging a plurality of main media components side by side within the opening of the frame, inserting at least one distribution media component in a first gap extending between a top surface of the main media components and a top of the frame, and inserting at least one width adjustment component in a second gap extending between a side surface of the main media components and a side of the frame.

Abstract: Evaporative coolers are disclosed. The evaporative cooler includes a cooler housing, a pump, a float, and a magnetic switch. The cooler housing defines a receptacle for receiving water. The pump is disposed at least partially within the receptacle defined by the cooler housing. The pump is configured to pump water received in the receptacle defined by the cooler housing. The float is disposed within the cooler housing and positioned to float on the water received in the receptacle defined by the cooler housing. The float includes a magnet. The magnetic switch is mounted on the cooler housing and configured for activation when the magnet is proximal to the magnetic switch. The magnetic switch is electrically coupled to the pump such that the pump is deactivated when the magnetic switch is activated by the magnet.

Abstract: Evaporative coolers are disclosed. An evaporative cooler includes a cooler housing, a centrifugal fan, and a motor. The cooler housing defines an interior region, a single air inlet, and an air outlet. The single air inlet is positioned to permit air flow into the interior region generally along an inlet axis. The air outlet is positioned to permit air flow from the interior region generally along an outlet axis. The inlet axis and outlet axis are angled with respect to one another. The centrifugal fan is mounted within the interior region of the cooler housing. The centrifugal fan is oriented to rotate about a vertical axis that is substantially orthogonal to the inlet and outlet axes. The motor is mounted within the interior region of the cooler housing and is coupled to the centrifugal fan. The motor is configured to rotate the centrifugal fan about the vertical axis.

Abstract: An evaporative cooler and method of operating the evaporative cooler are described. The evaporative cooler comprises a reservoir configured to contain water, a frame, and panels. The panels together at least partially form a cooler housing and define an interior region of the cooler housing. The cooler housing has at least one inlet for the intake of ambient air and at least one outlet for the flow of cooled air out from the interior of the cooler housing. Media is positioned adjacent the at least one inlet such that the intake of ambient air passes through the media for heat exchange. A blower is positioned to receive air entering through the at least one inlet defined by the cooler housing and to exhaust cooled air toward the at least one outlet opening defined by the cooler housing.

Abstract: An evaporative cooler of the invention includes a water distribution system having a dispersion cover spaced from a water pipe having evenly spaced orifices therein for expelling water. The water impinges on a flock-coated concave surface of the dispersion cover. The flock coating retards the water flow and spreads the water flowing downwardly so that the water substantially evenly covers a drip rail at the lower edge of the flock-coated surface adjacent the evaporative medium in the cooler.
