  • Patent number: 4352895
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for the continuous production of plates, which are optionally laminated on all sides, from foamed synthetic resins and especially from polyurethane hard foams, in which a foaming synthetic resin is passed through a channel formed by endless running bands, wherein the side bands are subjected to external pressure and press towards the middle of the plate, said side bands being pressed in the course of the foaming by the foaming pressure thereby arising into their actual side-limiting positions, said side bands finally assuming the positions which correspond to the desired plate breadth and contour. The present invention also provides a device for taking up the lateral foam pressure in continuously operating band plants, comprising counterpressure devices which exert on the side bands, adapted to move in the plane of the plate, an optimum counterpressure for the reaction characteristics of the foaming synthetic resin.

  • Patent number: 4171390
Abstract: A process of producing a porous polyurethane resin filter material. A first solution containing an NCO-adduct dissolved in a highly polar organic solvent is admixed into a second solution containing a highly polar organic solvent and at least one hydrazine hydrate, carbodihydrazide, piperazine and 1,4-diaminopiperazine. The first solution is admixed into the second solution over an extended period of time during which time the viscosity of the admixture is monitored and during which time the NCO pre-adduct and the hydrazine (or the like) react to form a polyurethane reaction product. During this time, the viscosity of the admixture increases. Admixture is continued with monitoring of the viscosity of the admixture until a point is reached at which the addition of even the minutest amount of the first solution into the admixture would result in instantaneous gelling thereof. At this point, the solids content of the final admixture is between 15 and 35% by weight.

  • Patent number: 4125693
Abstract: Process for the production of polyurethanes dissolved in a solvent by mixing linear pre-adducts having terminal NCO groups dissolved in solvents with hydrazines and/or dihydrazine compounds and or diamines dissolved in solvents, for the purpose of forming partially cross-linked polyurethanes, whilst continuously measuring the viscosity until the viscosity shows a value which is located in the shaded zone of the section of curves shown in FIG. 1, the addition of the pre-adduct solution being carried out at such a speed that the final solution has solids content of between 25 and 35 per cent by weight, and coagulation of the obtained solution to fabricated shapes, especially to microporous sheet structures.

  • Patent number: 4108954
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for producing crosslinked elastomeric shaped polyurethane structures from crosslinked polyurethanes dissolved in solvents produced by the combination of the following steps:1. preparation of an NCO pre-adduct in a non-critical NCO/OH proportion from a treated polyol and the corresponding diisocyanate in a highly polar solvent;2. preparation of a solution containing crosslinked polyurethanes by introducing into the polymerization vessel a chain propagating and/or chain crosslinking agent and/or a combination thereof, and stirring into said vessel the NCO pre-adduct solution from step 1 such that the viscosity becomes an indication of the degree of the instantaneously occurring chain propagation and chain crosslinking reactions. In this way a solution is obtained which is at the borderline state between solution and gel and in which highly crosslinked polymer portions are uniformly distributed;3. molding;4. removal of the solvent by evaporation.
