  • Patent number: 4773868
Abstract: An apparatus for use with stackable processor modules to form an electrical device such as a microcomputer comprises superimposed stacked main or processor modules with one group of connectors which have connector pins at one side of the module and sockets at the other side of the module. At least one intermediate module is provided with two groups of angularly offset connectors, each of which corresponds to the group of connectors of a process or module. When assembled into a stack, two processor modules neighboring an intermediate module are angularly offset relative to each other and are connected to different connector groups of the intermediate module. In this manner, it is possible to assemble stacks of modules with different isolated bus sections that are not directly connected to each other.

  • Patent number: 4567559
Abstract: An apparatus for regulating a parameter by admission of an additive into a medium comprises a control pulse generator which is dependent on the extent of deviation from the norm, and a regulating element which effects the admission of additive during the interval of generation of a control signal. The control signal generator comprises a first timing pulse generator with a constant frequency and a first counter which receives the first timing pulses from the first timing pulse generator and transmits a first counter overflow signal after receiving a predetermined number of first timing pulses. The control signal generator further comprises a second timing pulse generator whose frequency increases with decreasing deviation form the norm and which transmits second timing pulses to a second counter which transmits a second counter overflow signal after receiving a predetermined number of second timing pulses.

  • Patent number: 4547680
Abstract: A diaphragm pump wherein the diaphragm is deformable by the reciprocable armature of an electromagnet which is energizable at a selected frequency by a timer circuit and at random frequency by a pulse generator. The pulse generator is connectable with the electromagnet by a cable having separable male and female coupling elements which automatically deactivate the timer circuit when the male coupling element is inserted into the female coupling element. A selector switch is provided to deactivate the timer circuit independently of the coupling elements. A knob serves to adjust a potentiometer of the timer circuit simultaneously with closing of the selector switch so that the frequency at which the timer circuit can energize the electromagnet is reduced to a minimum value.

  • Patent number: 4537565
Abstract: The membrane of a diaphragm pump is deformable by the reciprocable armature of a cylindrical electromagnet which is installed in the interior of a plastic housing adjacent to a partition which separates the winding or windings of the electromagnet from the casing of the pump and which carries the casing as well as the electromagnet. That section of the housing which surrounds the electromagnet is a relatively thin cylinder having circumferentially extending heat-dissipating ribs and a cylindrical internal surface which defines with the cylindrical external surface of the electromagnet a gap of constant width. The area around the cylindrical section of the housing is unobstructed, and the housing further includes a larger section which is integral with the cylindrical section, which is rigid with a foot extending well below the electromagnet to enhance the stability of the machine, and which confines a control circuit for the electromagnet.

  • Patent number: 4523902
Abstract: A fluid flow machine has a diaphragm pump which is driven by an electromagnet and is confined in a pressure-resistant capsule together with the electromagnet as well as with the electronic control unit for the electromagnet. The constituents of the capsule are connected to each other so that they form one or more gaps each having a configuration and dimensions such as to prevent the propagation of flames and/or sparks from the interior of the capsule to the surrounding area. This renders it possible to use the machine in an explosive atmosphere, even if the pump is designed to deliver metered quantities of flammable fluids. A gap of the above outlined character is provided between two portions of the capsule where a reciprocable plunger extends toward the diaphragm.

  • Patent number: 4507062
Abstract: A diaphragm pump, particularly for conveying flammable media, has a housing whose interior is divided into a pumping chamber and a second chamber by a deformable diaphragm having a marginal portion which is clamped between two sections of the pump head and being deformable by a cupped member which is biased in one direction by a coil spring and is movable in the other direction by a plunger receiving motion from a motor and being in mere abutment with the bottom wall of the cupped member. The housing defines a first set of gaps which connect the second chamber with the atmosphere and a second set of gaps which connect the atmosphere with the pumping chamber. The dimensions and shapes of the gaps are such that they do not permit the propagation of ignition from the respective chamber to the atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 4498019
Abstract: A switching circuit with a time-delay device comprises a pulse generator, and a counter which receives pulses therefrom. The overflow output of the counter transmits a counter signal after receiving a predetermined number of pulses. The counter is provided with a holding circuit for maintaining the counter signal up to the time of resetting and renewed start of the counting operation. The resetting input of the counter receives a signal either by way of an inverter or directly. The overflow output of the counter is connected with the output of the time delay device, either directly to obtain a delayed start or by way of an inverter to obtain a delayed termination.

  • Patent number: 3984315
Abstract: Apparatus for pumping the eluent liquid through a chromatograph column is provided in the form of an electromagnetic metering pump, the outlet of which is provided with a pulsation damping device in the form of a sealed chamber having a resiliently loaded elastic wall. Considerable control of operation is obtainable by adjustment of the resilient loading and the operation of the pump (speed and stroke length). The chamber may be fitted with a pressure gauge having a closable outlet to atmosphere for purging purposes. Effective chromatographic separation of mixtures is obtainable at low equipment costs.
