Abstract: A composition for rendering surfaces water repellent is formed by combining water or a solvent; a methylhydrogensiloxane polymer or copolymer; an alkoxysilane having the formula RaSi(OR′)4−a in which R represents an alkyl group containing 1-10 carbon atoms, an alkenyl group containing 2-8 carbon atoms, an aryl group, or an haloalkyl group, a has a value of 1 or 2, and R′ represents an alkyl group containing 1-6 carbon atoms; and a silicone resin. The composition can also contain other components such as a volatile methyl siloxane, a cationic oil-in-water emulsion of an aminofunctional polydimethylsiloxane, a surfactant, a catalyst, a beading agent, an organic wax, a preservative, an antifoam, a mildewcide, an UV absorber/UV light stabilizer, or a freeze-thaw additive.

Abstract: A tracer material having an identifiable property associated with a particular type product and/or a particular manufacturer is blended with dry, powder hydraulic cement-based building materials, which set to a hardened product after admixing with water or another hardening agent, to provide the capability of making a simple analysis of the hardened product to determine the presence or absence of the tracer material and thereby positively identify whether the building material used to produce the hardened product was a particular type and/or supplied by a particular manufacturer. The building material can be analyzed in the dry powder form prior to use to make the same type determination.
Abstract: One-part, ambient moisture-curable polyurethane adhesives are produced by reacting with a polyol selected from the group consisting of polyether diols, triols and tetrols based on propylene glycol or ethylene-capped propylene glycol and mixtures thereof with an organic polyisocyanate for a sufficient time to form a reaction product including an isocyanate-terminated prepolymer and unreacted isocyanate, admixing with the reaction product talc or another additive containing free water which reacts with the unreacted isocyanate to extend the chain of the polyurethane and provide hard segments therein, allowing the water-isocyanate reaction to proceed until a predetermined amount of unreacted isocyanate remains and introducing the resulting adhesive into a substantially hermetically sealed container or package.

Abstract: Ingredients or precursor for synthesizing or formulating urethane polymers and prepolymers are dried by admixing therewith an enamine which reacts with the water. While some ingredients, such as polyols and solvents, can be individually dried in this manner, the enamine preferably is added after the polyol(s), solvent(s) and additives have been blended. When prepolymers having a relatively low free isocyanate content are to be synthesized or admixed with other ingredients, a sufficient amount of an isocyanate, preferably the same one used for synthesis, is added to react with amines liberated by the enamine-water reaction to produce an inert urea derivative.
