  • Patent number: 8749581
Abstract: A method of reducing visual artefacts in a blend zone of at least two projector images is provided. The method comprises determining a maximum intensity variance for each pixel group within a blend curve of the blend zone, the maximum intensity variance being based on a blend multiplier selected to achieve a net light intensity specific to the location of the pixel group within the blend curve. For each pixel group, a first adjusted blend multiplier is determined, wherein the blend multiplier is increased by at least a portion of the maximum intensity variance. For each pixel group, a second adjusted blend multiplier is also determined, wherein the blend multiplier is decreased by at least a portion of the maximum intensity variance. The light intensity of each pixel in each pixel group is adjusted using the first and second adjusted blend multipliers specific to each pixel group.

  • Patent number: 7018076
Abstract: A high performance compound reflector and cooling system for use with a projection system having a lamp for emitting light, an ellipsoid reflector for capturing said light from a first focal point of the ellipsoid reflector and focusing said light at a second focal point co-incident with an integrator rod, and a spherical reflector for retro-reflecting light through the first focal point for reflection by said ellipsoid reflector to said second focal point. The shape of the ellipsoid reflector according to the present invention allows the spherical element to have a larger diameter at the interface between the ellipsoid and sphere. This provides a location for an air deflector in a shape similar to the back of the ellipsoid for channeling air over and outside of the ellipsoid and then along the inside of the sphere. The design of the reflector and air deflector allow cooling requirements to be substantially reduced.

  • Patent number: 6930832
Abstract: An improved strap design is provided for to reducing edge reflections in tiled video cubes. More particularly, a groove is notched on the outside of the strap into which bonding compound is injected for bonding the screen mounting surface to the video cube. In addition to eliminating edge reflections, the new strap design also provides a clearer bond, without voids and cutting debris trapped between the side strap and clear screen mounting surface. Crazing is also reduced with the new bond, and there is no excessive machining requirement to create the groove in the strap, thereby saving on construction time.
