Abstract: A sling-type chair includes flat oval tubing contoured for proper lumbar support and knee strain relief. The tubing is disposed inside the sling fabric. The tubing on the sides are joined by stretchers. The connection between the stretchers and the tubing include inserts within the tubing and sockets outside the tubing that are joined together by bolts that extend through holes in the sockets and screwed into threaded holes in the inserts to effectively eliminate bending moments on the bolts.
Abstract: A totally concealed connection is made between the arm of a chair and the backrest by an L-shaped connecting pin which has one end screwed into a threaded boss on the inside edge of the arm and its other end inserted through an opening in a clip secured to the stiff core of the backrest. The angular relationship of the two parts of the pin retains the arm in a fixed position with respect to the backrest when the arm is also connected to the chair at a location remote from the pin.
