Patents Assigned to Clark Michigan Company
  • Patent number: 4652167
Abstract: A pin retention mechanism for a pivot joint which connects together two structural members of a machine for pivotal movement relative to each other. The pivot pin has a dynamic connection with one of the structural members and there is an annular spacer on the pivot pin adjacent the dynamic connection. The other structural member has a tapered opening through it with the taper either on the structural member itself or on a bushing within an opening in the other structural member. A collet in the tapered opening has an external surface mating with the tapered internal surface. A cylindrical sleeve is located between the collet and the pivot pin and in contact with the spacer.

  • Patent number: 4635497
Abstract: A single lever shift mechanism for shifting two control valves by selective movements of a single lever. The lever includes a spindle projecting horizontally from a vertically disposed control column and is pivoted about the axis of the control column to operate one valve. The lever also includes a handle on the spindle which is turned about the axis of the handle to provide for the operation of a second control valve.

  • Patent number: 4630698
Abstract: A self-storing panel mechanism for a vehicle engine compartment which has a lower side frame member extending longitudinally of the vehicle adjacent one side of the compartment, and an upper structural portion extending longitudinally above the lower side frame member and forming with the lower side frame member an access opening into the engine compartment. A movable side panel is detachably secured to the upper structural portion and extends downwardly across the access opening. There is at least one vertically disposed guide cable extending from the lower side frame member to a connection with the upper structural portion frame member. The guide cable normally holds the side panel in position to close the access opening but the side panel can easily be moved to the open position by disengaging the panel from the upper structural portion and allowing it to move by gravity downwardly without disconnecting the guide cable.

  • Patent number: 4574927
Abstract: A supplemental parking brake for a vehicle having a power shift transmission which includes a hydraulically operated forward clutch which is selectively engaged to put the transmission in the forward operating mode and a hydraulically operated reverse clutch which is selectively engaged to put the transmission in the reverse operating mode. The supplemental parking brake is applied automatically when the regular parking brake is applied if a predetermined condition prevails. Such condition prevails if the power transmission of the vehicle has been shifted by appropriate controls to either the forward operating mode or the reverse operating mode.

  • Patent number: 4561247
Abstract: A control system for a drive apparatus which includes an engine and a hydrodynamic transmission with the latter including a forward hydraulic torque converter, a reverse hydraulic torque converter, and means for selectively filling either of the torque converters with hydraulic fluid to provide operation of the drive apparatus in the desired direction. A pedal or other operator control member is provided which when operated first causes the engine speed to drop to an idling speed, while further movement of the operator control member causes the engine speed to increase and the previously inactive torque converter to fill at a rate corresponding to the movement of the pedal.
