  • Patent number: 4236852
Abstract: An upright storage silo for fluid materials, such as comminuted, powdered and granulated livestock feed, flour, grain, spices, sugar, cement, fertilizer and similar, has a mixing chamber centrally located within the silo; a discharge chamber within the silo in communication with the mixing chamber, and defining an area separate from the silo interior; a plurality of aeration orifices within the floor of the silo; a lifting tank in conduit connection with the mixing chamber and discharge chamber; a shut-off mechanism, and a dosage mechanism for conveying the material from the silo. Flow control apparatus of the pressure of aeration is employed for lifting, pulverizing and discharge of the material by utilizing the increased discharge pressure of the pulverized material for the lifting thereof. The material rises under the increased pressure in communication with the silo discharge aperture and thereafter the pressure is relaxed.

  • Patent number: 4213287
Abstract: A filling machine for valve bags as a plurality of filling caps for filing bags supplied thereto from a magazine, and includes a rotating structure which carries a plurality of articulated delivery arms which grip the bags at the magazine and deliver them to the filling caps where the bags are filled with product. The delivery arms are constructed and guided in their movement such that they have a very slow approach to the bags and thus are enabled to accurately grip the bags.

  • Patent number: 4108500
Abstract: The process and apparatus for effecting savings of compressed injection gs such as oxygen or nitrogen when injecting solids such as burnt lime pneumatically into a receiving vessel, such as the blow-line to steel melt has a solids conveying system, a compressed gas supply source and a conduit and valve system functioning in a sequence, by which the compressed gas upon termination of the procedure is collected and thereupon is recycled. The system is equipped with at least one pressure-reservoir to collect the compressed gas from the previous procedure for recycling it.The pressure reservoir is subdivided by a reciprocating divider such as a membrane or a reciprocating piston to subdivide it into two parts of variable volumes, the divider is pushed by the returning compressed saved gas from one wall of the reservoir to the other. Highly compressed gas is blown into the empty part of the reservoir to increase the pressure upon the returned gas.

  • Patent number: 4078883
Abstract: A longitudinally reciprocating grate plate in a substantially horizontal plane for an apparatus for heat variation, such as for cooling or combustion, forming a bed for forwarding a flow of material comprising a one-piece frame shaped base plate with an upper substantially flat surface portion and a slightly rising portion in the direction of flow of said material over said grate, the base plate provided with hollows, internal recesses and protrusions, a plurality of rib-shaped wear pieces to provide a long-life wear surface to the plate in its plane, the wear pieces disengageably assembled with the base plate provided with internal protrusions and recesses in assembly mating with the hollows, recesses and protrusions respectively, of the plate in a snug, easily assembled loose fit and devoidly of any additional independent connecting means such as screws, bolts or welds. The base plate and the wear pieces in assembly are forming slots substantially in the vertical direction to form jet-type air ducts.

  • Patent number: 4049247
Abstract: An equipment for the continuous, pneumatic introduction of finely divided materials, in particular coal dust, into several consumption sites, in particular into the tuyeres of blast-furnaces is characterized by combining systems partly known in such manner, that a plurality of double-story vessels is preceded by a distribution system comprising a supply bin with metering conveyor scale and distribution bin. A pressure-resistant bucket-wheel distributor is mounted underneath every pressure-vessel, the buckets of said distributor is multiply subdivided transversely to the axis, and a pressure-pan provided with conveyor-gas hook-up and subdivided into mini-chambers corresponding to the bucket-wheel distributor is mounted underneath each bucket-wheel distributor, the conveyor lines to the consumption sites being connected to the pressure-pan.

  • Patent number: 4030206
Abstract: A thrust grate, particularly a cooling or fire grate having an essentially horizontal sequence of two sets of grate plates alternatingly fixed and reciprocating forward and backward in linear alignment and vertically spaced from each other. Each set of plates has a rear portion extending in the direction of movement of the movable grate plates, an at least partially upward slanting front portion, and an inclined front. The front end of each plate overlaps the rear end of each following plate. The front ends of the fixed and reciprocating plates, each, are provided with a lip or nose, respectively, to move the material deposited on the sloped portions thereof. The angle of the sloped portion of the fixed grate plates is different from that of the movable grate plates. The rear portion of the plates with the smaller angle is positioned on a higher level than the rear portion of the plates with the larger angle slope.

  • Patent number: 3977540
Abstract: In a marine loading system of bulky materials for ships, Barges and similar vessels, means are provided to handle either powdered materials or lumpy materials. The powdered materials are unloaded by air-flotation means provided with a pneumatic discharge device having air permeable panels, individual, or foldably connected into a unit, with an air conveyer chute attached to each panel. Both the panels and the chutes are unilaterally flexible and connected to the bottom of the hold by hinges so that they may be folded upward to the vertical walls of the hold and there locked, while conventional gripping means are provided for handling the lumpy materials. The open-air conveyer chutes function as feeders to the pneumatic conveyer units for advancing the bulk material. The panels as well as the open air conveyer chutes are provided on their bottom sides with a steel reinforcing construction.

  • Patent number: 3976232
Abstract: An improvement on a silo for delivery of fluid bulk material, such as livestock feed, grain, flour, spices, sugar, and similar provides for an inner compartment adjacent to the bottom of the silo of the shape approximately of a truncated cone or funnel, with the wider periphery thereof merging with the inside of the cylindrical wall of the silo and with the narrower periphery extending into a shorter vertical wall merging with the bottom of the silo. The lower portion of the cylinder wall of the silo forms with the truncated cone shell within it an annular channel. A central cone rises from the center of the bottom of the compartment. Material release openings are provided within the vertical cone wall and lead from the compartment into the channel. The channel is provided with a material discharge opening toward the outside of the silo. The bottoms of the compartment and of the channel are suitably inclined to aid the transport of the material.
