Patent number: 9296021Abstract: A lightweight, portable filter system that is especially adapted for use in commercial kitchen cleaning services such as hoods used in commercial kitchens is described. The invention is defined by a container adapted for holding a filter and which has a drain opening that may be connected to the usual drain. A filter is suspended in the interior of the container with a special structure that allows for quick and easy insertion of the filter and removal of the filter when it is spent and the top of the filter is open to define a relatively large opening. In use, the tarp that is used to isolate a hood during cleaning is tucked into the opening into the filter so that effluent that flows from the hood during cleaning, and the cleaning fluids (water, degreasers, etc.) are channeled into the filter. The material used for the filter is selected for the particular type of cleaning that is being done, and in any event removes the desired compounds from the effluent stream.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2014Date of Patent: March 29, 2016Assignee: Cleanway Environmental Partners, Inc.Inventor: Matthew Moulton

Patent number: 8608956Abstract: A filtration apparatus for curb vaults may be installed in existing vaults through manhole access openings whenever the smallest dimension of the access opening is greater than the smallest dimension measured across a support plate assembly of the filtration apparatus. An adjustable attachment system allows installation of the filtration apparatus by inserting the apparatus through the access opening.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2011Date of Patent: December 17, 2013Assignee: Cleanway Environmental Partners, Inc.Inventors: Matthew Moulton, Stephen McInnis

Patent number: 8221632Abstract: A plate is positioned across an inlet to a catch basin and a filter strainer is inserted through an opening through the plate and into the basin. A tertiary filter completely surrounds the strainer and is suspended below the plate. Surface water flows through a primary grate that covers the catch basin, through the strainer and through the tertiary filter. The tertiary filter comprising fibrous filter media retained in a non-woven mesh fabric enclosure and the filter media is selected according to the type of contaminants that are to be removed.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2009Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Assignee: Cleanway Environmental Partners, Inc.Inventors: Stephen J. McInnis, Matthew E. Moulton

Patent number: 8088279Abstract: A runoff water filter is defined by an elongate, tubular mesh container filled with a filter medium that is selected for the ability of the filter medium to remove target pollutants from the runoff water. In a first disclosed embodiment, vermiculite is used as the primary filter medium for its ability to bind cationic compounds, principally zinc, from water running off metal buildings. Other filter media may also be employed to remove other target pollutants.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 2008Date of Patent: January 3, 2012Assignee: Cleanway Environmental Partners, Inc.Inventors: Stephen McInnis, Matthew Moulton
