The device includes a first component comprising a first adhesive-backed anchoring member and one or more first connecting members extending from one edge thereof in a first direction. Also included is a second component comprising a second adhesive-backed anchoring member and one or more second connecting members extending from one edge thereof in a second direction generally opposite to the first direction. Means for attaching the one or more first connecting members to the second anchoring member and means for attaching the one or more second connecting members to the first anchoring member is also provided. The attachment of the connecting members to the anchoring members forms attached and bridging portions of the one or more connecting members, the attached portions being attached to an anchoring member, and the bridging portions spanning the over-laceration area between the first and second anchoring members.

Abstract: The present invention includes a first and a second interlaced component, each having a permeable adhesive-backed wound edge pad for attachment to the skin of a patient adjacent to a laceration or incision to be closed. Each of the permeable wound edge pads is attached to an opposing tension adjusting pad that also has an adhesive backing. The wound edge pads are connected to the respective tension adjusting pads by elongate connecting elements that may be flat or tubular in shape. The present invention also includes an adhesive that may be applied in liquid form to the permeable wound edge pads. Adhesion of the adhesive on and within the permeable wound edge pads seals the wound site and adds structural rigidity to the interlaced components.

Abstract: Disclosed is a carrier-delivered dressing comprising a conformable film having first and second surfaces and a continuous outer perimeter. The conformable film includes a continuous strip of pressure-sensitive adhesive disposed on the first surface along a generally C-shaped first portion of the outer perimeter, and a second portion of the outer perimeter which is substantially adhesive-free. One or more release liners are provided which cover and protect the pressure-sensitive strip of adhesive prior to application. Alternative embodiments including a substantially continuous strip of pressure-sensitive adhesive around the continuous outer perimeter with one or more optionally removable release liners are also disclosed. Methods of use in which the dressings are applied in a shingled manner enable the convenient protection of long incisions or lacerations.

Each interlaced element includes a mated first and second part, the first part having two termini and the second part having two termini, and a defined central void through which the other interlaced element passes. The method includes the processing and mating of a first and a second substrate layer, each including a top surface, a bottom surface and a mating zone. The first substrate layer includes a portion corresponding to a first part of a first interlaced element and a first part of a second interlaced element. The second substrate layer includes a portion corresponding to a second part of a first interlaced element and a second part of a second interlaced element. Also disclosed are interlaced devices or compositions.

Abstract: The present invention includes a first and a second interlaced component, each having an adhesive-backed wound edge pad for attachment to the skin of a patient adjacent to a laceration or incision to be closed. Each of the wound edge pads is attached to an opposing tension adjusting pad that also has an adhesive backing. The wound edge pads are connected to the respective tension adjusting pads by elongate connecting elements that may be flat or tubular in shape. The present invention also includes one or more adhesive-backed locking strips for securing the elongate connecting elements as they span between the first interlaced component and the second interlaced component. The present invention further includes a substructure that may be readily produced and adapted for use with the foregoing components thus permitting the mass-production of the devices disclosed herein.
