Abstract: A dental instrument includes a housing a first part with a circumferential wall and defining a hand-piece for holding, preferably by a single hand, a light source, electrical components for operating the light source, and a tip portion which supports a light guide that receives light from the light source. The housing has between the first part and the tip portion a second part with a circumferential wall having on a first side a first control element for fingertip operation and on a second side a second control element for fingertip operation, the first control element being located circumferentially opposite the second control element.

Abstract: A handset includes a high power LED and a vibrator. An optical tip includes a stepwise tapered portion for insertion into a root canal. The optical tip is used in combination with the vibrator for distributing a photosynthesizer in a root canal. The optical tip is used in combination with the LED for activating the photosynthesizer.

Abstract: An optical tip for disinfecting a site of a periodontal pocket includes a first portion configured to be optically coupled to a light source, and a second portion configured to be introduced into the site of the periodontal pocket, where a distal end of the second portion is cylindrical in form and has a constant outer diameter. The second portion is configured to carry light from the light source to the distal end.

Abstract: An endodontic obturator for filling an endodontically prepared root canal of a tooth. The endodontic obturator includes an elongated shaft of having a proximate portion and a distal portion. The proximate portion has a handle portion connected thereto or is suitable for being releasably connected to a handle portion. A layer of filler material is coated about the shaft. The filler material has a low operating temperature at which it becomes plasticized or partially molten. The filler material in the layer disposed close to the distal end can have a higher viscosity at the operating temperate than the filler material close to the distal end.

Abstract: A low level laser therapy (LLLT) system. The laser therapy apparatus comprises a laser head and a detachable battery section. When the laser head is mounted to the battery section the apparatus assumes the shape of a penlight or flashlight and can be used as a handheld laser therapy apparatus. The detached laser heads can be placed and held in apertures of a bandage that is applied to a joint of a patient to be treated for use of the apparatus as a patient worn device.

Abstract: A kit for use by dental professionals comprising a handle part with a proximal end and a distal end and a plurality of user interchangeable electrically operated heads to be attached to the distal end of said handle part. The handle part provides power for any of the heads fitted thereto.

Abstract: A light emitting apparatus for curing a photocurable dental prosthesis in a patient's tooth that comprises a LED carrying part connected to a handle. The LED carrying part comprises a first plurality of LEDs directed to a first side of the tooth, and a second plurality of LEDs directed to a second side of the tooth. The present invention also relates to a method of curing a photocurable dental prosthesis in a patient's tooth, in which a light emitting apparatus is provided that comprises LEDs that are mounted on a substrate, the substrate being covered with a clear coating embedding the LEDs, and the LEDs being placed so proximate to the photocurable dental prostheses that the smallest distance between the outer surface of the clear coating and the outer surface of the photocurable dental prostheses is less than 2 mm.
