Abstract: A picnic cooler or the container comprises an open-topped container body and a removable lid. The lid includes a hinge portion which extends across the lid and divides the lid into first and second lid portions which are hingedly attached. One of the lid portions is removably attached to the container body, and the other lid portion can pivot about the hinge to provide access to the container body.

Abstract: A nesting flatware set includes a knife, a fork, and a spoon. The knife and fork each include top and bottom end portions and dovetail locking portions which interfit to frictionally lock the knife and fork together. The spoon includes a bowl, a handle, and a pair of locking shoulders at the bottom end of the handle. The top and bottom end portions of the knife and fork are angularly related, and the knife and fork are frictionally locked against the spoon by inserting their bottom ends between the locking shoulders and the handle of the spoon so that the top ends of the knife and fork resiliently bear against the bowl of the spoon.

Abstract: A leveling mechanism is provided for a campstove which includes a base and a plurality of legs which are pivotally attached to the base. The leveling mechanism is a ring-shaped band which is inserted between the legs and the base. A camming ramp extends over a portion of the circumference of the band and progressively increases the thickness of the band. The band is rotatable to position the camming ramp between one of the pivoting legs and the base for pivoting the leg away from the base.

Abstract: A safety latch assembly for a picnic cooler includes a latch spring which is slidably mounted in a latch cover before the latch cover is attached to the lid of the cooler. The latch cover includes top, bottom, and side walls which provide a recess for the latch spring. A pair of ribs extend upwardly from the bottom wall adjacent the side walls, and a plurality of ribs extend downwardly from the top wall. The latch spring includes a flat mounting portion which is positioned between the top and bottom ribs and an L-shaped strike portion which extends downwardly from the mounting portion. The mounting portion terminates in a pair of V-shaped end portions which are positioned between the bottom ribs and the side walls of the latch cover.

Abstract: A container includes a container body and a lid. The lid includes a pair of pins which extend into slots in the side walls of the container body. The configurations of the slots and the pins are such that the pins can slide but not rotate in the main portions of the slot but can rotate in enlarged end portions of the slots. The position of the lid can be reversed by positioning the pins in the enlarged end portions of the slots, rotating the lid 180.degree., and sliding the lid and the pins to the other ends of the slots. The lid can then be opened or closed while the lid is in its inverted position by sliding the pins within the slots.

Abstract: A backpack is provided with a pair of detachable auxiliary side packs. Each of the auxiliary side packs is connected to the main pack by multiple pairs of fasteners, and one fastener of each pair is connected to the main pack by an adjustable strap. The adjustable straps can be tightened to adjust the capacity of the auxiliary packs.
