Patents Assigned to Columbia-Inland Corporation
  • Patent number: 11827309
Abstract: A ride-along vehicle may include both handles and foot rests each capable of providing power to the pump arm. An improved pumper arm and steering mechanism may include a pivot joint that is provided by rods, pins, or bolts attached to opposite sides of the pumper arm. The universal joint between the steering arm and the pumper arm can be aligned with the center of the pivot point to prevent rocking of the steering arm as the pumper arm is actuated.

  • Publication number: 20220106011
Abstract: A hybrid pump-action vehicle and therapy device may include a pumping arm attached to a lower pump-action assembly. As the pumping arm is actuated, the lower pump-action assembly moves forward and rearward in response to the pumping action and powers movement of the vehicle. The lower pump-action assembly may be releasably connected to the pump arm so that the pump arm can be disengaged from the pumping action but still be usable for steering. A motor may also be provided to provide assistance or full power to the vehicle based on a user-selectable amount of assistance. And finally, the vehicle may be configured such that it can be collapsed to a fraction of its operating footprint to enable easy transport and storage.

  • Patent number: 6220609
Abstract: A ride-on vehicle having a longitudinal axis includes a body; a rear axle having a crank portion therein and rotatably secured to the body; a pair of spaced-apart driven rear wheels eccentrically fixed to the rear axle; a forward crank rotatably secured to the body and driven by a vehicle rider; and a shaft extending between the rear axle crank portion and the forward crank; wherein rotation of the forward crank results in a driving force being transmitted through the shaft to the rear axle crank portion, thereby causing the vehicle to move along its longitudinal axis and wherein the body oscillates vertically when the vehicle moves along its longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 5829772
Abstract: A ride-on, human-powered vehicle a frame, which is integrally formed with the body of the vehicle. A front axle includes spaced-apart, steerable axle elements located on either side of the front end of the frame, each steerable axle element having a wheel rotatably mounted thereon A steering/power mechanism is mounted on the frame for oscillating motion relative to the frame that includes a steering shaft for steering the front wheels having a handle bar located at the upper end thereof. Foot rests are located at the lower end of the steering/power mechanism. A chain extends from the steering/power mechanism to the rear axle. A combination of the handle bar and the foot rests allow the rider to power the vehicle through the use of arms and legs simultaneously.
