  • Patent number: 5860418
Abstract: A method of verifying function and status of breathing equipment, wherein the breathing equipment includes a gas supply, a closure valve on the gas supply, a primary pressure regulator downstream of the closure valve, a pressure sensor, a secondary pressure regulator downstream of the primary pressure regulator, a breathing mask downstream of the secondary pressure regulator, an indicator, a processor connected to the pressure sensor and the indicator, and gas lines between the gas supply, the primary pressure regulator, the secondary pressure regulator, and the mask. A processor for receiving sensed data, comparing the sensed data to control values, and producing an output signal is activated. At least one functional or status variable within the equipment is measured. The at least one measured value is compared to a corresponding control value with the processor. An output signal based upon the comparison is produced.

  • Patent number: 5813400
Abstract: Breathing equipment for use under water, or in a non-respiratory atmosphere, and including a breathing mask (1), a mouth-piece or the like, and a respiratory circuit (2) with a volumetrically variable gas accumulator (7). In addition, there is included a metering bottle (26) connected to the respiratory circuit via a valve device (12), which alternatingly connects the bottle to a source (9) of fresh respiratory gas for filling the bottle and to the circuit for emptying the bottle. The valve device (12) is adapted to regulate filling and emptying the bottle (26) in response to the respiratory cycle, such that fresh respiratory gas is supplied to the circuit (2) during each such cycle. The device (12) is suitably implemented so that the amount filling the metering bottle (26) is adjusted in response to respiratory volume.

  • Patent number: 5685014
Abstract: A knitted individual protective gear such as, a glove, muff or mitt for example, to guard an upper limb against mechanical risks, particularly cutting and/or abrasion, is characterized in that, the yarn (2) of high physical resistance with which the individual protective gear is knitted is a fiber core (3) surrounded by an outer fiber covering (4);fibers of the core (3) have a selected color;fibers of the covering (4) have a color chosen to be distinct from that of the core (3);cuts and/or abrasion alter the covering (4) on a permanent basis, allowing the core (3) to be seen, so that the larger the alteration, the closer the shade of the altered parts will be to the color of the core (3), in order for the gear to have an indicator of the protection performance in the gear's current state.

  • Patent number: 5581812
Abstract: A leak proof materials handling glove that comprises a textile outer layer shaped to fit a hand. The outer layer is of a cut resistant material with good gripping ability on oily metal machine parts, preferably terry cloth cotton. The outer layer defines an interior and exterior surface. A liquid impermeable inner layer of a polymeric material impervious to attack from petroleum based products, such as PVC, is bonded to substantially the entire interior surface of the outer layer. The inner layer forms a continuous liquid-impermeable barrier to machine tool cutting fluids, protecting a wearer's hands from contact with the fluids.

  • Patent number: 5357950
Abstract: A positive pressure demand regulator having a housing with a connection for delivering breathing gas with an outlet connected to the housing for attachment to a mask. A diaphragm is mounted in the housing and a passage connects the outlet and the diaphragm so that the diaphragm can be in fluidically connected relationship to the outlet. A main valve interconnects the breathing gas connection to the outlet for valving breathing gas to the outlet. A cam is attached to the diaphragm for lifting the diaphragm into an inoperative mode with a detent connected to the cam operated by a cam rod engaging a cam surface to lift the detent into a position for placing the detent in displaced relationship from where the diaphragm is in an operative mode, mounted in the housing on the side of the diaphragm opposite from the outlet.

  • Patent number: 5042093
Abstract: The invention relates to an adjustable coif for headgear and headgear incorporating such a coif. The simple and accurate adjustment of the coif makes it possible for several users to use the headgear, even when it supports technical equipment. The adjustable coif comprises a headband (1), a coif bottom (10), and an arrangement for adjusting the headband (1) and the coif bottom (10).
