Patents Assigned to Communication & Control Electronics Limited
  • Publication number: 20050152382
Abstract: Examples of local communication systems are disclosed, based on a ring of point-to-point links, providing for transport of fixed rate synchronous, fixed rate asynchronous data and variable rate data in a flexible format. Different segments of the ring network can carry data at different bit rates, while remaining synchronised to a common frame rate and having a common control channel structure, for compatibility with earlier systems. Parallel channels are provided, either permanently or when required, for signalling errors of source data, data validity/padding, flow control. Parallel variable width channels are defined with free content (stream or packet). Null data symbols are defined for padding on a byte-by-byte basis. The allocation of capacity among variable width channels is revised block by block, and a transition period is defined to allow for ring latency.

  • Patent number: 6751682
Abstract: A local communication system comprises a plurality of stations exchanging control messages via a ring network. One of which stations is designated a master station with the other stations designated as slave stations. Each of the slave stations has the capability to implement an autonomous process to find and store for future use its own unique address within a set of allowable addresses. Each slave station is arranged only to begin the autonomous process to seek its own address when individually instructed by a command from the master station to do so.

  • Patent number: 6473469
Abstract: A local area network is based on a ring of twisted pair cable links (UTP), each carrying at least 1.4 Mbps gross data rate. Each station on the network includes an encoder and a following station includes a decoder for PSK (phase shift keying) modulated serial data. The encoder uses an analog sine wave oscillator and inverter for generating antiphase analog sine wave signals at a carrier frequency and a switching circuit for selecting between the carrier signals according to the data signal to be transmitted. The decoder may use a simple integrator and comparator arrangement. The encoder and decoder may be provided in the form of an adapter circuit, such that a network based on optical fibre can be replaced by a network based on twisted pair cable using the same digital circuits. Generation of the PSK waveform by analog circuitry rather than digital synthesis reduces radio frequency emissions to a level suitable for use in an automotive audio/video communications network.

  • Patent number: 6343331
Abstract: A local communication system includes a plurality of stations exchanging control messages and source data via a ring network. One of the stations is designated a master station with the other stations designated as slave stations. On start-up, a “Set Position” message is generated by the master station and modified by each station in turn, so that each station can determine its ring position. In the event that start-up is unsuccessful due to a break down at some point in the ring, the slave station immediately following the break will become temporary master, and will generate a “Set Position” message prior to shut down. By this mechanism, the master station is able to store an indication of the relative position of the temporary master station in the network, so that the fault may be more easily located.
