Patent number: 4403300Abstract: The invention relates to data processing systems which make use of an addressable memory. It proposes a method and a system of operation which permits one to particularize or mark for future reference, as desired, certain addresses in the addressable memory by the creation of indicators associated with the particular addresses. These indicators are activated each time one of the particular addresses is called and the system is informed that it has just called up one of the addresses having an associated indicator. The indicators are locations which access subroutines.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 1980Date of Patent: September 6, 1983Assignee: Compagnie International pour l'Informatique, Societe AnonymeInventors: Robert J. Patent number: 4354208Abstract: Cells of abutting magnetic disk tracks represent binary zeros and ones by having zero and one magnetic polarity transitions. The transitions in each cell for binary bits having the same value occur at the same relative place within the cell. A head positioned to straddle a pair of adjacent tracks simultaneously reads the magnetic transitions. Multiple successive cells along the lengths of the first and second abutting tracks provide only information to enable the head to be positioned to centrally straddle the abutting tracks. Aligned head positioning cells of abutting tracks have differing numbers of the transitions to represent the zero and one values. Even and odd numbered head positioning cells of a track respectively represent the zero and one value. Odd and even numbered head positioning cells of the abutting track respectively represent the one and zero binary values.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 1979Date of Patent: October 12, 1982Assignee: Compagnie International Pour l'InformatiqueInventor: M. Patent number: 4323941Abstract: A magnetic transducer for reading and/or writing data contained on a carrier comprises two thin magnetic layers constituting the first and second pole pieces of the transducer. The layers are superimposed and magnetically coupled at one end and arranged at the other end adjacent the carrier, substantially perpendicular to the latter to form an air-gap to establish a magnetic circuit for the transducer. A coil is disposed between the thin magnetic layers. The coil is of thin conductive layers superimposed in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the magnetic layers and separated from each other by thin electrically insulating layers. The coil comprises windings of a number of turns N.sub.1 and N.sub.2 adapted to be traversed respectively by currents I.sub.1 and I.sub.2, the coefficients of mutual magnetic coupling of each of the thin conductive layers of each of the two windings with the downstream pole piece being respectively designated by L.sub.i1 and L.sub.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 1980Date of Patent: April 6, 1982Assignee: Compagnie International pour l'Informatique CII-Honeywell Bull (Societe Anonyme)Inventors: Jean-Pierre Lazzari, Jacques Desserre

Patent number: 4319745Abstract: Improvement to a check sorter. The sorter comprises a sorting track and a number of diverters. Each diverter is pivotable about a vertical axis. Each diverter is caused to pivot by the magnetic effect created between a magnet attached to the diverter and a coil 21 arranged close to the magnet.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 1979Date of Patent: March 16, 1982Assignee: Compagnie International pour l'Informatique Cii Honeywell Bull (Societe Anonyme)Inventor: Patrick Pinard

Patent number: 4194190Abstract: The present invention provides apparatus for converting digital electrical signals representative of alpha-numeric characters and other symbols into a particular pattern of dots symbolic of the character or symbol as used, for example, in the Braille alphabet. The dot pattern is established by the tips of a plurality of stems which are raised and retracted in respect of a given surface by operation of electromagnetically response plunger cores slidably positioned in cavities which communicate with wells within which the stems slide. The ends of the cores within the cavities are bevelled. When a core is retracted from the cavity, the associated stem falls by gravity to its retracted position and is maintained in position with its end slightly spaced from the extreme bottom of the cavity by a stop member.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 1978Date of Patent: March 18, 1980Assignee: Compagnie International pour l'InformatiqueInventor: Alain Bareau

Patent number: 4182481Abstract: A device for reading printed characters formed of elements separated by spaces of first and second kinds in accordance with a character code. The device includes a read head arranged for relative motion with respect to the elements of a character, and is characterized by being insensitive to the speed at which the character elements move past the read head. The read head includes three element detectors physically spaced such that the first and second detectors are separated by a first kind of space, and the first and third detectors are separated by a distance equal to the second kind of space. Suitable circuitry is connected to the detectors for identifying the two kinds of space. The first kind of space is identified when the first and second detectors simultaneously detect character elements, and the second kind of space is identified when the first and third detectors simultaneously detect character elements.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 1978Date of Patent: January 8, 1980Assignee: Compagnie International pour l'Informatique Cii-Honeywell Bull (Societe Anonyme)Inventor: Daniel Maussion

Patent number: 4179014Abstract: A plate is locked in situ on a table that has a guide for controlling the vement of the plate in a predetermined direction. A pair of members are moved between a first position where they are applied to fixedly connect the plate to the guide and a rest position where the plate can be moved. Ramps are inclined relative to the predetermined direction of the guide. The ramps and member are positioned so the member is movable between the first and rest positions along the ramps. The ramps cooperate with the member and are displaceable substantially in the predetermined direction as the plate moves on the guide.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 1978Date of Patent: December 18, 1979Assignee: Compagnie International pour l'Informatique Cii-Honeywell BullInventor: Emile Bailly

Method of mounting integrated circuit chips on a substrate and apparatus for carrying out the method
Patent number: 4116376Abstract: Method and apparatus to enable integrated circuit chips to be accurately mounted on substrates. Each chip is precisely positioned with respect to connecting areas on the substrates to which it is soldered. To this end, a support block is movable horizontally along a predetermined path and adapted to receive a substrate provided with at least one set of connecting areas arranged in a predetermined configuration about a center. A cutting tool having on the one hand a cutting head movable along a working axis perpendicular to the path followed by the support block is arranged to pass through a first fixed point on the said path, and on the other hand a cutting die arranged in the path of the head is arranged to receive an integrated circuit chip mounted on a support.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 1977Date of Patent: September 26, 1978Assignee: Compagnie International pour l'Informatique Cii-Honeywell Bull (Societe Anonyme)Inventors: Raymond Louis Delorme, Henri Grosjean
