Abstract: An automatic messaging client launcher for a communication device automatically launches the communication device's messaging client, when the device is calling a currently unavailable destination communication device. The automatic messaging client launcher consists of an availability detector and a messaging initiator. The availability detector determines if the communication device being called is available. If the destination device is unavailable, the messaging initiator launches the messaging client.

Abstract: A system for providing multimedia ring back for a voice-call is disclosed. The system may include an MMRB for VC control module and a network access module operatively connected to the MMRB. The network access module is adapted to interface the MMRB with external network components. The MMRB is responsive to indication that a caller is inviting a callee to join a voice-call wherein the caller and/or the callee is subscribed to an MMRB for VC service. The MMRB is responsive to indication that the callee received an invitation message and is now pending acceptance of the voice-call, for causing the caller to adapt its media-specification for the ongoing voice-call establishment process to a media-specification that is compatible with multimedia-content communication, thereby enabling a multimedia-content communication with the caller during at least a portion of the ongoing voice-call establishment process.

Abstract: A message delivery server system for delivery of electronic content to a receiving client, comprises: a data storage for storing electronic content, a connection unit for maintaining a connection with the receiving client, and a connection establishment unit for allowing a receiving client to establish a connection with the server. The connection establishment unit comprises a definition unit for placing one or more connection definitions relating to the connection in an entity that is independent of any actual connection socket used for the session. The definition unit can be use to establish additional sockets to maintain the session and the definitions within can be used to find the best way to download media to the receiving client.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods that gather information in levels of various categories about the “likes” of a user of a social site and, by assigning a weight factor to each level of category of “likes”, a “match” score for the user is calculated. The calculation of “match” scores can be performed for a plurality of users to obtain a set of users who are potential customers of a marketing campaign. The set of users whose “likes” are evaluated can be compared to the “target” of an advertising campaign to generate potential customers for that campaign; this serves to improve the conversion rate for the advertising campaign. Alternatively, the “like” profiles can be used to analyze the advertising campaign portfolio of an entity and provide recommendations as to those advertising campaigns likely to be of interest to a particular set of users, based on calculated “like” profiles.

Abstract: There are disclosed systems and methods for calculating the “social score” of users of social websites to determine who the “social leaders” are. The activities of users of social websites are monitored and activities weighted. The combined scores for the user's activities provide an absolute score for the particular user. The absolute score from a single social website, or combined absolute scores from a plurality of social websites, can be used. In either instance, the absolute score obtained of a user is compared to the absolute scores of other users and a relative score is obtained. The relative score provides a ranking of each user as compared to the rest of the user population. In this manner, social leaders, e.g., the top ten percent in relative score can be identified. Social leaders are of interest to various entities to provide targets for advertising, product test marketing, and the like.

Abstract: An identification manager provides a user-generated identity of an initiating party during a connection to a destination. The identification manager includes an identity store for storing user-generated identities, and an identity provider associated with the identity store, for retrieving, from the identity store, a user-generated identity of the initiating party, and for providing the retrieved identity to the destination. Prior to delivery of the retrieved identity to the destination, the identity provider may sense connection characteristics, such as the network type and terminal capabilities of the destination party, and adapt the initiating party's identity to the sensed characteristics. The identification manager may also include a provisioning system for users to generate multimedia identities by various mechanisms. Identity provisioning may be performed automatically, as user replies to system initiated IVR calls, MMS messages and/or SMS messages.

Abstract: A method and system for replacing at least one item in a source string compiled at a TV set-top box for conveying via a TV communication infrastructure. A TV communication gateway receives the source string from the TV set-top box, parses the source string and identifies at least one item that requires replacing. Such item may be incorrectly spelled or the TV communication gateway may run an application that translates the source string to a foreign language. For each item that requires replacing, the TV communication gateway determines at least one replacement item, compiles data which it forwards to the TV set-top box. In the case of a spell-check program, the data may be an XML list including for each incorrectly spelled item a list of alternatives. The list of replacement items relating to the selected item is displayed, allowing a user to select a desired replacement item.

Abstract: In a method and system for generating a referencing secondary electronic mail message from a primary electronic mail message, a reference to accompanying data in the primary electronic mail message is obtained that allows reconstitution of the accompanying data from the reference. The referencing secondary electronic mail message is composed with the reference embedded therein instead of the accompanying data. Conversely, a non-referencing electronic mail message is reconstituted from a referencing electronic mail message that includes at least one reference indicative of respective accompanying data by accessing a copy of the respective accompanying data pertaining to each reference in the referencing electronic mail message. The referencing electronic mail message is augmented with the respective copy of the accompanying data relating to each reference.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method in a communication network for connecting at least one application server (AS) (213) of an internet protocol multimedia subsystem (IMS) (200) to an intelligent network (IN) (100) through an interface unit (301). The IMS (200) comprises a call server control function (CSCF) unit (205) connected to the at least one AS (213) arranged for processing call signaling. In the method the interface unit (301) directs the call signaling to the at least one AS (213) through the CSCF unit (205) and the at least one AS (213) processes the call signaling and sends the processed call signaling through the CSCF unit (205) back to the interface unit (301). Based on the information received in the call signaling processed by the at least one AS (213), the interface unit (301) then directs the call to a destination.

Abstract: A system for providing multimedia ring back for a voice-call. Abstract: SMS messages are conveyed via a TV communication infrastructure for receipt by a TV set-top box having a unique ID. The SMS messages are sent by a cellular telephone to a cellular service provider and are encoded with a unique ID of a destination TV subscriber's TV set-top box so as to be identifiable as destined for the TV communication infrastructure. After identifying that an SMS message is destined for the TV communication infrastructure, the cellular service provider forwards the SMS message to a TV communication gateway, which processes the SMS message, including identifying the unique ID of the TV subscriber's TV set-top box, and forwards data relating to the SMS message to the TV subscriber's TV set-top box.

Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for creating a personalized phone bill populated with names from a subscriber's personal address book on the subscriber's device. A billing application receives a request to generate a phone bill for a subscriber, and obtains usage data for that subscriber's device. In one embodiment, the billing application then sends a request to a translation server to search a network address book, which is synchronized with the personal address book on a subscriber's device, to match the usage data with the names from the network address book. The matched names are then transmitted from the translation server to the billing application, where the billing application includes the matched names in a usage section of the bill, thereby generating a personalized phone bill that a subscriber can more easily review and understand.

Abstract: An apparatus for identifying participants of a conference call in a telephony network, each participant using a respective channel to participate in the conference call, the apparatus including: a sampler, deployed in the telephony network, and configured to continuously sample each of the channels during the conference call, a dominant channel identifier, in communication with the sampler, and configured to identify in real time a dominant one of the sampled channels, and a current speaker data disseminator, in communication with the dominant channel identifier, and configured to disseminate, in real time, data pertaining to a participant who uses the dominant channel to at least one remaining participant of the conference call, so as to identify the participant who uses the dominant channel as a current speaker to the remaining participant.

Abstract: A communication system and device that enables free-hand drawn SMS (Short Messaging Service) messages to be transmitted and received from/to various user devices. A buffer device is inserted within a GSM compatible handset providing a buffer for both conventional SMS messages created by typing a message on the keypad of the handset and for free-hand drawn SMS messages created by drawing or writing the free-hand message on a data entry device. An optional OCR (Optical Character Recognition) facility can be provided in either the buffer device inserted within the handset or in a network server that receives the transmitted message and processes it for proper routing to the intended recipient.

Abstract: A system and method for request verification in an Application Level Gateway (ALG) located between a client and a server in a data transmission network. The ALG receives from a server a message that requires some responsive actions from a client. The ALG adds to this message Verification Data (VD) that includes information about expected actions required from the client. The ALG then sends the message with the above-mentioned additions to the client. The client receives this message and sends a response, with the actual actions and with the VD, to the server. The ALG obtains this response with the VD, and compares the description of the expected actions with actual actions of the client. If the actions of the client are legitimate, the ALG sends the client response to the server.

Abstract: A system for recovering an unintentionally interrupted call in a telephony network includes an interrupted call data capturer and a re-connector. The interrupted call data capturer is deployable in the telephony network and configured to capture data pertaining to an interruption of the call from the telephony network. The re-connector is associated with the interrupted call data capturer and configured to use the captured data to automatically reconnect at least one unintentionally disconnected participant of the call, thereby recovering the unintentionally interrupted call.

Abstract: A method and system for determining availability of a target device in a CDMA environment includes sending a message from a source device for determining the availability of a target device, wherein an intermediary device generates an interrogation command upon receipt of the message. The intermediary device uses the interrogation command to interrogate an HLR in the CDMA environment in order to determine the availability of the target device, such that the intermediary device alerts the source device when the target device becomes available.

Abstract: A communication system converting multimedia data of enhanced services into video stream for transmission to a user's handset communication device. The system includes a database storing therein users profile data; a mailbox system storing therein users mailboxes and capable of storing messages in audio and video formats; an application server managing data storage and retrieval from the database and storage; a multimedia to video converter, receiving multimedia data and converting it into a video streams corresponding to a pre-selected template; an access server providing the multimedia data to the multimedia to video converter and receiving therefrom the video stream, and transmitting the video stream onto a telecommunication network.
