  • Patent number: 4954135
Abstract: Oil compositions comprising crude oils, fuel oils, mineral oils and synthetic oils having high pour points are provided with one or more enhanced characteristics such as improved pour point, viscosity or viscosity index by the addition of a terpolymer comprising an alkyl ester of an unsaturated monocarboxylic acid, an olefinically unsaturated homo or heterocyclic-nitrogen compound, and an allyl acrylate or methacrylate or a perfluoroalkyl ethyl arcylate or methacrylate.

  • Patent number: 4397267
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling steam production by controlling the flow rate of particulate solids from a fluidized bed combustion chamber through a vertical heat exchanger. The pressure drop across a section of the vertical heat exchanger is monitored and compared with a set point pressure drop. When the pressure drop being monitored falls below the set point pressure drop, a signal is provided to a particulate solids feed control means which then allows more particulate solids to be circulated through the vertical heat exchanger. The vertical heat exchanger receives heat from the particulate solids. The additional amount of particulate solids fed to the vertical heat exchanger are recirculated along with the previous amount of particulate solids through the heat exchanger into the fluidized bed combustion chamber. Because of the additional cooled particulate solids in the fluidized bed combustion chamber the temperature of the fluidized bed combustion chamber drops.

  • Patent number: 4114939
Abstract: A vacuum pickup head used with a stacker crane or similar structure wherein a plurality of the heads are suitably arranged on a movable support. The vacuum pickup head has a casing with an interior vacuum chamber and a depending container-engaging sealing element to seal the space between the casing and a container. A bottom wall of the casing has an annular air passage to provide a large airflow connection of said space with the vacuum chamber. A linearly-movable valve plate is positioned beneath the bottom wall for movement relative to the bottom wall to open and close said annular passage and fluid-powered motor means are positioned within the casing for moving the valve plate.

  • Patent number: 4107738
Abstract: A camera, as for example a TV camera, is associated with a hydraulic jet nozzle unit whereby delivery of water under pressure to the jet nozzle unit causes rearwardly-directed jets of water to advance the camera and jet unit along a sewer, with the structure being retracted along the sewer by suitable means, such as rewinding a hose which supplies water under pressure to the jet nozzle unit.

  • Patent number: 3958102
Abstract: A stacker crane is movable along horizontally spaced and vertically stacked bins to deposit and retrieve palletized loads comprised of stacked articles, at least some of which contain an inventory label. To take a physical inventory, an inventory pallet is carried on the transfer forks of the stacker crane. The inventory pallet contains a laser beam scanner which directs a scanning beam toward the rear of the palletized load. The stacker crane is automatically driven through a sequence which causes it to pass each bin in the warehouse. When the crane reverses direction, the laser beam scanner is driven along guides to an end location, and rotated 180.degree., to scan bins on the opposite side of the aisle. The scanned inventory data is remotely transmitted with the bin address data to an off-crane data recorder.

  • Patent number: 3946293
Abstract: An induction motor is coupled to a three-phase AC source through thyristors controlled by a digital control circuit. An adjustable device gates a selected number of clock pulses to a control counter. As one of the AC phases goes positive, the control counter is incremented or decremented by clock pulses until reaching a predetermined count, which causes a trigger means to generate a trigger pulse and fire a thyristor. The trigger pulse also gates clock pulses to a second control counter which counts to 120.degree. and 240.degree. representing numbers in order to fire the other thyristors. In a speed feedback embodiment, rotation of the motor generates a motor feedback signal which is compared with a desired speed signal to adjust the count of an up/down counter, the contents of which are loaded into the control counter.
