  • Patent number: 7946940
Abstract: The invention is directed to a drive belt of rubber or rubber-like plastic having a surface protection (5) which includes polyamide-containing textile reinforcement and/or polyester-containing textile reinforcement. On the outer side, a surface coating (6) of a friction-reducing material in a matrix of at least one elastic addition polymer is provided. For improved heat resistance with good protection against wear, the elastic addition polymer has less than 2% by weight based on the polymer of structural components —O—CxRy—O— with x=1-3 and y=0-6. The R in a structural component can be the same or can be different and is selected from hydrogen and/or carbon-containing groups.

  • Patent number: 7926649
Abstract: A flat belt (2), which is made of elastomeric material (46a, 46b), is made up of a first partial belt (2a) and a second partial belt (2b). The first partial belt (2a) is reinforced with a reinforcement layer (4) made up of cords. A layer separation which is to be feared theoretically is to be reliably avoided and the bonding of the belt material to the reinforcement layer (4) is to be optimized. The first belt part (2a) is provided with slots (44) with the aid of mold drum winding-projections (42); the second belt part (2b) defines a filling of the slots (44) of the first belt part (2a). Preferably, the reinforcement layer (4) is positioned centrally in the neutral bending plane of the finished flat belt (2). The first belt part (2a) and the second belt part (2b) can be made of different elastomeric materials (46a, 46b). Also, at least one of the two surfaces of the belt (2) can be coated and/or provided with a longitudinal profile or transverse profile.

  • Patent number: 7137918
Abstract: The invention relates to a ribbed V-belt having an elastomeric cover layer (1), a tension-support layer (3) and an elastomeric base body (2). The base body (2) has ribs which have an outer coating containing polymers and fibers and is fixedly joined to the base body. The outer coating is an elastomeric layer having a layer thickness of 0.15 to 0.25 mm. The elastomeric layer is based on an interlaced rubber and contains at least fibers (5) in combination with a fluoropolymer powder (6) and/or a powder of non-ferrous metal. The invention also relates to a method of making the ribbed V-belt.

  • Patent number: 7131923
Abstract: In a low-vibration V-belt (2), consisting of at least one load carrier (4; 4a, 4b) and a plurality of support elements (6) located thereon, the damping effect is improved. The formation of the damping elements (34) in a radial direction above the central section and in the direction of the width of the belt substantially symmetrical to the axis of symmetry of the support element (6) allows both possible transversal vibrations to be simultaneously damped. The damping elements (34), which consist preferably of elastomer and have high inherent damping properties, can be seated in recesses or bores (36) of the support elements (6). The rear faces of the support elements (6) can have cylindrical counterforms (38), which correspond in shape and position to the convex damping elements (34) located on the respective front faces. The edges of the convex parts (34) have radii or chamfers which permit the corresponding counterparts (34, 38) to engage without force or impact.

  • Patent number: 7128674
Abstract: The invention relates to a frictionally engaged driving belt having a base body (2) and a cover layer (1) that consists of rubber or a rubber-like synthetic material which is provided with a tractive support layer (3) that is embedded into the rubber or the rubber-like synthetic material. The aim of the invention is to prevent or reduce the generation of noise in drives of the belts. Only the surface or a portion of the surface, preferably the motion-transferring part of the surface, pertaining to the driving belt is provided with a flocking material consisting of short aramide fibers (5). A portion of said aramide fibers (5) is integrated into the surface only with a partial length of each individual fiber.

  • Patent number: 6966763
Abstract: The two belt parts (2a, 2b) of a belt (2) made of plasticatable material are produced with the aid of a first station (6) and a second station (8). The first station (6) includes a rotatable mold drum (14) and a continuous mold belt (18). The mold belt (18) is brought together with the mold drum (14) along a peripheral section via an upper pressure roller (20), a lower pressure roller (22) and a tensioning roller (24) in such a manner that a hollow mold space (26) is formed between the mold drum (14) and the mold belt (18). An extruder (10) is mounted forward of the hollow mold space (26). Furthermore, the first station (6) includes a filament feed (28) for forming a reinforcement layer (4) in the first belt part (2a). For a simplified manufacture of the belt (2), the second station (8) includes only a direction-changing roller (30) in addition to the extruder (12) and a mold drum (16).

  • Patent number: 6599211
Abstract: A V-belt transmits rotational movements between at least two belt pulleys and includes at least one endless load carrier and a plurality of transverse blocks mounted thereon. The load carrier is fitted into slots which extend from at least one inclined lateral surface of a block toward the center region thereof. The load carrier has a contact surface which faces a boundary surface of the slot in the block. The contact surface and the boundary surface are provided with convex and/or concave sections. To minimize losses and increase efficiency, the pressing force is reduced where the slide movement occurs. A contact region is assumed between the stretched state of the V-belt up to the state corresponding to the smallest running radius. In the entire contact region, a continuously changeable curvature or a composite of at least three sections of constant curvature is realized in such a manner that the curvature from the center of the contact region to the outer region increases.
