Publication number: 20080113127Abstract: An insulative label is provided for a beverage container to reduce heat transfer, particularly heat transfer by conduction from a consumer's hand to the beverage container. The label comprises a dual-ply construction, with a grid pattern placed between the layered materials. Preferably, the label comprises a film base layer secured to the container, the grid pattern comprising an ink and varnish mixture printed over the film base layer, and a laminate top layer secured to the film base layer. Air is trapped in the gaps or spaces between the protrusions created by the grid pattern, and the trapped air insulates the container.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 14, 2006Publication date: May 15, 2008Applicant: COORS BREWING COMPANYInventor: Ray Alan Toms

Patent number: 6698467Abstract: A system for strengthening containers in a high-speed filling operation is disclosed. The system includes a solenoid-driven injector apparatus positioned at an angle to the containers being filled. The injector apparatus includes a chamber connected via an intake line to a supply tank. A solenoid is adapted to open an injector valve, allowing liquefied gas within a chamber to forcibly flow through an outflow line into the container. The solenoid is also adapted to close the injector valve, thereby blocking the liquefied gas within the chamber from entering the outflow line. The injector apparatus also includes a heater positioned adjacent to the outflow line and an adjustment device for the injector valve.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2003Date of Patent: March 2, 2004Assignee: Coors Brewing CompanyInventors: Robert H. Schultz, Christopher S. Derks, Elizabeth J. McTeer

Patent number: 6668734Abstract: A pallet for supporting a load of packages is disclosed. The pallet includes a support structure comprising flexible film wrapped around at least one of the layers of the load. The flexible film is wrapped around two axes which are generally perpendicular to one another and preferably located within the same plane such that the flexible film covers at least a majority of the layer(s). The pallet also includes a base positioned adjacent to the support structure which is adapted to receive forks of a forklift. The base may have an elongate tubular configuration and be constructed from a disposable/recyclable material.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2002Date of Patent: December 30, 2003Assignee: Coors Brewing CompanyInventors: Philip J. Patent number: 6631803Abstract: A beverage cooler box is provided which is intended to receive ice or other cooling means to keep containers packaged therein cool. The box is made of a material which is impervious to liquid which may be contained within the box during use. The box includes folding end panels which extend continuously between adjacent front and rear panels; therefore, there are no seams or breaks in the material around the lower portion of the box which might degrade the ability of the box to hold a liquid. Also disclosed is a method of assembling the cooler box.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2001Date of Patent: October 14, 2003Assignees: Coors Brewing Company, Graphic Packaging CorporationInventors: Terrance E. Rhodes, Brett Lee Schuetz, Michael Christopher Cruz, Patricia O. Shibata, Lee Buxton, Patrick B. Edson, Raymond Scott Kastanek, Gary Lawrence Gresge, Stephen Mark Kaczmarek

Patent number: 6584805Abstract: A glass bottle production line comprising a bottle mold which has a plurality of mold cavities arranged in a predetermined order for forming bottles from glass parisons and for transferring the bottles to a conveyor in a predetermined sequence corresponding to the predetermined order of the mold cavities. The conveyor has a hot end portion and a cold end portion for receiving bottles from the bottle mold at an elevated temperature at the hot end portion and conveying the bottles to the cold end portion. A hot bottle inspector located at a fixed inspection station along the conveyor at the hot end portion non-touchingly inspects the bottles as the bottles are conveyed past the inspection station by the conveyor. A mold transfer signal and bottle detection signal are processed to determine the mold cavity used to produce the bottle detected at the inspector's station.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1998Date of Patent: July 1, 2003Assignee: Coors Brewing CompanyInventors: John William Burns, Dennis Ray Erickson, Jack Devin McKeehan, James Allen Gulka

Patent number: 6473171Abstract: A biocompatible flow cytometry system such that low levels of bacteria or other particles in a sample will not adsorb onto the system's surfaces. The biocompatible flow cytometry system comprises an upper chamber assembly. The upper chamber comprises a biocompatible input system, a means for retaining and adjusting the biocompatible system, a sheath fluid input port, and a means of interfacing with a glass tube. The interface between the biocompatible system and a glass tube allows for the low level contaminants to be irradiated with a laser source selected to interact with marked bacteria and cause them to fluoresce at a wavelength that can be detected.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 1999Date of Patent: October 29, 2002Assignee: Coors Brewing CompanyInventors: Daniel A. Patent number: 6378571Abstract: A system for strengthening containers in a high-speed filling operation is disclosed. The system includes a supply tank having an intake line connected to a source of liquefied gas. A solenoid-driven injector apparatus positioned at an angle to the containers is connected via another intake line to the supply tank. A back pressure regulator controls the pressure within the supply tank and the injector apparatus. A liquid level control valve within the supply tank prevents liquefied gas from entering the back pressure regulator. Upon sensing the presence of a container, a sensor actuates a solenoid which opens an injector valve, allowing liquefied gas within a chamber to forcibly flow through an outflow line into the container. The solenoid is then deactivated, closing the injector valve and blocking the liquefied gas within the chamber from entering the outflow line. The injector apparatus also includes a heater positioned adjacent to the outflow line and an adjustment device for the injector valve.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2001Date of Patent: April 30, 2002Assignee: Coors Brewing CompanyInventors: Robert H. The display rack has a left side display area and a right side display area which extend substantially from the basket on each side to almost the bottom of the frame. Each display area is adapted to retain a plurality of signs and to display one of the signs. Each of the signs may advertise a specific brand of a manufacturer's product. A first sign holder adapted to display a first upper sign is removably attached to the upper end of the frame. The display rack may further include a second sign holder removably attached to the first sign holder which is adapted to display a second upper sign therein. The display rack may further include shelf strips, lockable casters, and a kick-plate.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2000Date of Patent: April 2, 2002Assignee: Coors Brewing CompanyInventors: Ted W.
