  • Patent number: 4218966
Abstract: A beverage brewer housing structure wherein improved supporting connections are provided intermediate a base portion and the lower end of an upright rear portion of the housing and between the upper end of the upright rear portion and a cantilevered upper head portion of the housing. The connections are arranged so as to provide a plurality of layers of metal wall portions secured together to define improved rigidified interconnections between the housing portions advantageously adapted for use in such beverage brewer structures wherein relatively heavy weight is provided at the front end of the cantilevered head of the housing. The connections may include a plurality of channels and, in the illustrated embodiment, the channels include both C-section and L-section channels. The channels and interconnecting wall portions of the housing may be secured together by suitable threaded securing elements for facilitated low cost manufacture of the brewer structure.

  • Patent number: 4192227
Abstract: A beverage brewer structure wherein a pour-in basin is provided with an overlying wall member for preventing liquid which may inadvertently pass downwardly through the top wall of the brewer housing from falling into the basin so as to avoid contamination of the water to be used in the brewing operation. The housing may include a top wall having an opening in which is mounted a warming station and the protective structure is arranged to prevent water or liquid from passing downwardly from the warming station opening into the basin. The wall member may be inclined toward an edge portion of the basin so as to cause the undesirable liquid to flow away from the basin. The wall member may be suitably heated as by heat transfer association with the water heating tank of the beverage brewer so as to cause evaporation of the undesirable liquid which may fall thereonto.

  • Patent number: 4178842
Abstract: A cantilevered instantaneous heating brewer for brewing beverages, such as coffee, wherein the heat transfer structure includes a heavy heat transfer mass. Cold water is supplied to the heat transfer mass to have heat transfer association therewith and thereby be heated to the desired brewing temperature. The mass is disposed in overlying relationship to a rear upright portion of the brewer housing so as to provide a stable arrangement of the brewer as against undesirable forward tipping. To further minimize the tendency for tipping of the cantilevered arrangement, the brewing cartridge normally carried on the front portion of the cantilevered head is made to be relatively lightweight. In the illustrated embodiment, the heat transfer structure includes a plurality of stacked relatively heavy massive elements with the stack being disposed at the rear of the head overlying the rear upright portion of the housing.

  • Patent number: 4140251
Abstract: A decanter for use with a beverage, such as coffee, having a pouring spout provided with a mounting portion carrying a suitable handle. The mounting structure is sealingly secured to the neck of the decanter by compressive engagement with a seal ring set in place about the neck of the decanter below the upper edge thereof. The seal ring is compressed both axially and radially as a result of the engagement therewith by a stepped portion of the bore of the mounting structure. The mounting structure is retained against axial displacement from the installed condition wherein the seal is thusly compressed by an interlock at the lower end of the mounting structure and a cooperating portion on the decanter neck. An upper, inturned flange on the mounting structure is spaced slightly above the upper edge of the decanter neck in the installed arrangement of the spout on the decanter.
