Abstract: A doorway exerciser is provided for exercising a child positioned therein. The doorway exerciser includes a mounting assembly, a lower hanger, a shock cord, and a seat unit. The mounting assembly is adapted for removable attachment with a doorway framework and is formed to include a passageway therein. The lower hanger is formed to include a passageway therein. The shock cord has opposite ends and an extensible center portion extending between the opposite ends. One end of the cord extends in the passageway of the mounting assembly. An opposite second end of each cord extends in the passageway of the lower hanger so that the lower hanger is suspended from the mounting assembly. The seat unit is suspended from the lower hanger. The mounting assembly has a first clamp member including a catch and a core and an opposing second clamp member which includes a catch and a core. The cores of the first and second clamp members are coupled together for pivotable movement therebetween.

Abstract: A step stool includes a frame with a front leg and a rear leg pivotably coupled to the front leg for movement of the frame between an opened position and a collapsed position. The front leg includes opposite leg members, a handle portion extending between the leg members, and a step spaced-apart from the handle portion. In addition, the step stool includes a latch movably coupled to the handle portion. The latch is formed to engage the rear leg to block movement of the frame from the opened position toward the collapsed position.

Abstract: A stationary baby jumper apparatus is provided. The jumper apparatus includes a support frame having a U-shaped base leg with upstanding ends. A cantilevered seat-support leg is mounted upon the upstanding ends of the U-shaped base leg. A chair seat is suspended from the seat-support leg. Connectors are provided and are positioned in spaced-apart relation to one another about the cantilevered seat-support leg. The chair seat is suspended from the seat-support leg by shock cords that extend between the chair seat and the connectors. Each shock cord includes a first end coupled to a respective connector, a second end coupled to the frame of the chair seat, and an extensible center portion extending between the first and second ends.

Abstract: A swing includes a swing motor and an adaptive control system for periodically actuating the swing motor to sustain swinging pendulum movement of a seat along a swing arc in a manner that is compatible with the natural frequency (and period) of the seat. The swing further includes a support stand and a swing seat frame mounted on the support stand to carry the seat. The adaptive control system includes an impulse mechanism that applies a torque to the swing seat frame and that is actuated at a variable point along the swing arc between first and second extreme positions and without regard to the position of the swing seat frame relative to the support stand.

Abstract: A connector is provided for use with an end-frame assembly having an outer frame and a support member. The connector includes an annular back wall having a first lateral dimension and is formed for engagement with the support member. A sleeve extends from the back wall and has a second lateral dimension that is less than the first lateral dimension. Ribs are positioned on the sleeve. In addition, the connector includes an outer end that extends away from the back wall and has a fish-mouth portion formed thereon that includes a fish-mouth opening, a leg mount that has a side wall extending through the fish-mouth opening, and a support tongue. The support tongue engages the side wall and extends through the fish-mouth portion.

Abstract: A car seat is provided for restraining a child seated in the car seat. The car seat includes a seat shell having a bottom seat portion and a back support portion. A barrier shield is supported above the bottom seat portion and is pivotable from an initial position to a child-restraining position. A child-restraining harness is attached to the seat shell and extends over an upper torso of the child when the child is seated in the car seat to restrain forward motion of the child. The child-restraining harness is connected to the barrier shield. The barrier shield is located at the initial position when a child is harnessed in the child seat. The child-restraining harness moves the barrier shield from the initial position to a child-restraining position when the upper torso of the child harnessed into the child seat moves forward to push against the child-restraining harness.

Abstract: A connector assembly is provided that is adapted for use with a spindle. The connector assembly includes a bar formed to include an opening having a central axis and a bar-opening dimension and a connector adapted to receive the spindle. The connector includes a base positioned to lie upon the bar. The base includes a base opening and a retaining tab that extends outwardly from the base. The retaining tab includes an outer surface having a dimension less than the bar-opening dimension and an inclined surface converging from the base toward the central axis.

Abstract: The invention relates to platform step stools wherein a top step of the stool is movable from its top position to a position in alignment with the step below it to provide for a wider platform than a single step and in particular, to a particular single handle actuated locking mechanism for securing the top step both in its top and alignment height positions.

Abstract: A platform stool is provided including a frame having a front leg and a rear leg. The front leg is pivotably coupled to the rear leg for movement about a leg pivot axis between an opened position and a closed position. The platform stool includes a multi-part platform including a front section pivotably coupled to the front leg and a rear section pivotably coupled to the rear leg, each of the front and rear sections having a top surface. A platform support linkage couples the front section to the rear section for movement about a platform pivot axis between a platform-forming position wherein the top surface of the front section and the top surface of the rear section are aligned in substantially coplanar relation to form a platform and a platform-collapsing position wherein the top surface of the front section faces away from the rear leg and the top surface of the rear section faces away from the front leg.

Abstract: A process is provided for making a painted end frame assembly of the type used in a bed, crib, or cradle. Components of the end frame assembly are first formed and a selected color of paint is applied to each component to produce a multi-colored end frame assembly following later assembly of the components. In one embodiment, a process is provided for making a painted end frame assembly with multi-colored spindles.

Abstract: A child car seat is provided for restraining a child seated in the car seat. The child car seat includes a seat assembly and a restraint shield. The restraint shield includes a fixed portion coupled to the seat assembly and a movable portion configured to move relative to the fixed portion and seat assembly between a plurality of positions. The movable portion is formed to include an interior region and the fixed portion is positioned to lie wholly in the interior region of the movable portion.

Abstract: A child-restraint booster seat includes a seat, a movable barrier shield, and a shield lock plate. The shield lock plate allows the user to selectively pivot the movable barrier shield for right-side access or left-side access to and from the child-restraint booster seat.
