Patent number: 10232317Abstract: A novel positive traction permeate tube and fittings therefor are described for use in spirally wound membrane filtration elements for filtration and separation applications. Membrane filtration elements incorporate the novel permeate tube. Methods of making the novel positive traction permeate tube are also disclosed, as are the preferred sanitary stainless steel materials used for the sanitary tube and fittings. The novel permeate tube involves a sanitary tubing having two open ends, each with an end fitting. The end fittings engage a positive traction drive for high tension spiral winding of a membrane element spirally around the novel permeate tube. Membrane filtration elements made with the novel permeate tube are less subject to slippage and breakage during manufacture and can withstand higher pressure drops and flow rates during use without failure of the spirally wound membrane element. The positive traction permeate tube facilitates membrane replacements.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 2011Date of Patent: March 19, 2019Assignee: COTT TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventor: Pedro J. Tortosa

Patent number: 7074020Abstract: A sanitary pump and sanitary valve is provided employing a dual action piston for providing a constant pressure metering and delivery of fluids utilizing a drive shaft positively driven and controlled by a drive motor for sanitary applications. The sanitary pump may be fabricated from materials which do not include surface imperfections that would allow the growth of bacteria or allow the contamination of products that may be precisely metered by the sanitary pump. The sanitary pump includes sanitary check valves for opening and closing a high speed dependably and reliably and cycles up to 200 cycles per minute and preferably in the range of 60 to 160 cycles per minute by providing guides for maintaining check valve stem stability. The sanitary pump further includes compression seals for sealing the drive piston to maintain high reliability and dependability in high speed constant pressure applications.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 2003Date of Patent: July 11, 2006Assignee: Cott Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Ramon M. Patent number: 7059500Abstract: An apparatus for filling containers with viscous food product includes a plurality of pressure/vacuum fill head positioned above a plurality of containers. Each fill head includes a housing enclosing a plenum through which is longitudinally disposed a valve stem having in an outer cylindrical surface thereof a plurality of longitudinally disposed grooves terminated near a lower end of the stem by a cylindrical boss. The boss is biased into fluid pressure-tight sealing contact with a lower transverse end face of lower tubular portion of the housing by a helical compression spring which fits coaxially over a portion of the valve stem which protrudes upwardly from the housing, the spring being disposed between an upper transverse end wall of the housing, and the lower surface of a neck which protrudes radially outwardly from the upper end of the valve stem.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2004Date of Patent: June 13, 2006Assignee: Cott Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Ramon Navarro, Gilbert L.
