    Abstract: A bottle opener especially devised for removing corks from champagne bottles includes two levers pivotally connected together at their proximal ends and having distal end portions for engagement respectively with the tapered neck of the bottle and under the shoulder on the cork. The lever engaging the neck of the bottle provides a fulcrum from which a significant mechanical advantage can be generated through the compound action of the levers to readily eject the cork from the bottle.
