  • Patent number: 11257365
Abstract: A system and method for updating a database of authorized traffic speed limits (VLt) for vehicles on at least one section (tn) concerned of a road network, including a remote server and an on-board system in each vehicle. A system and method capable of constituting a database of the average traffic speeds of vehicles on the sections with a view to implementing the aforementioned system.

  • Publication number: 20130317730
Abstract: A method for assessing the quality of the information contained in a database of a remote server storing the speed limit values of various segments of which a road network is composed, in which the speeds in these segments of vehicles having geolocation devices and devices for communicating with the distant server are recorded in a speed database. The server management system takes into account the speed database in order to select the vehicles which, over a predetermined period of time, have travelled at least one predetermined segment; determines the average maximum speed of travel of said vehicles in the segment over the period of time; compares this average maximum speed with the limit value recorded in an authorized speed limit database; assesses the value of the difference between these two values and, if this difference exceeds a given threshold, triggers a monitoring procedure to monitor the segment concerned. Also discloses is an interface device for implementing this method.

  • Publication number: 20130033384
Abstract: A system for signaling a risk level in the presence of a road obstruction. The method is characterized in that the on-board device include a mechanism whereby the vehicle user inquires about the presence of an obstruction, a mechanism capable of enabling the user to respond to the inquiry, and a mechanism capable of communicating to the remote server the content of the response or non-response of the user. The remote server includes a mechanism for analyzing the response or non-response and capable of generating a reliability index parameter for the user. The on-board device also includes a mechanism capable of communicating to the vehicle user, in particular in visual form and/or audio form, information related to a reliability index parameter for the user(s) that have passed “over” the obstruction within a given time.
