Publication number: 20140090567Abstract: A roller tool for installing T-molding is provided. The roller tool is configured to receive the T-molding into a front of the body. The T-molding has a top surface and a bottom surface, with an insert of the T-molding extending from the bottom surface of the T-molding. The roller tool includes a guidance member attached to the body, the guidance member configured to align the body to a channel. One or more T-molding guide surfaces, slidably contacting the T-molding insert, guide the T-molding over the guidance member and the channel. The roller tool includes a pressure roller, rotatably attached to the body, the pressure roller positioned rearward of the front of the body, the pressure roller configured to press on the top surface of the T-molding so that, with the front of the body moving forward, the insert of the T-molding is pressed into the channel by the pressure roller.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 17, 2013Publication date: April 3, 2014Applicant: Crain Cutter Co., Inc.Inventors: Daniel D. Patent number: 8037610Abstract: A powered vinyl groover includes a motor attached to a circular blade and a blade housing for covering the circular blade. The blade housing includes a duct to carry cuttings into a collection bag. Near an inlet hole of the duct is a fin, which may be a raised surface on any interior wall of the blade housing extending into the blade housing as close as possible to the blade. The fin causes airflow from the blade to be redirected towards the inlet hole of the duct so that more cuttings enter the duct and are carried by the duct through to an outlet hole to a collection bag mountable over the outlet hole of the duct. The fin may be integral with the blade housing or attached to it, and a fin may also be added to existing groovers.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2008Date of Patent: October 18, 2011Assignee: Crain Cutter Co., Inc.Inventor: Gregory Joseph Chambers

Patent number: 5044081Abstract: A carpet cutter for trimming the edge of a carpet in which a base of the carpet cutter includes a flat bottom plate for movement along the carpet. The base also includes an angularly disposed upper plate spaced from the bottom plate to form an angular recess facing an installed molding. The angular recess receives a projecting edge on the installed molding to guide the carpet cutter along the installed molding during the cutting of the carpet. The free bottom edge of bottom plate is received by a recess in the molding to guide the carpet cutter along the installed molding during the cutting of the carpet. A handle is attached to the base and extends upwardly therefrom. The handle carries blades for cutting the carpet edge during the guided movement of the carpet cutter along the molding.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 1990Date of Patent: September 3, 1991Assignee: Crain Cutter Co., Inc.Inventor: Tan D. Patent number: 4230302Abstract: A carpet stretcher comprising a pin head. Extending from the pin head in a rearward direction is a sliding bar having a square cross-sectional area. Tubular telescoping extension members freely receive the sliding bar which extends in the axial direction thereof. At the free end of the tubular members is pivotally mounted a wall engaging member. At the opposite end of the tubular members is pivotally mounted a locking lever. A handle is pivotally mounted on the pin head and extends toward the tubular members. Intermediate the ends of the handle is linkage that pivotally connects the handle to the tubular members. Initially, the handle is depressed to apply an axial stretching force to a portion of a carpet. Stretched carpeting produces an axial reactive force within the carpet stretcher.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 1979Date of Patent: October 28, 1980Assignee: Crain Cutter Co., Inc.Inventor: Millard Crain, Jr.
