  • Patent number: 7024900
Abstract: Beading of containers such as two and three piece can bodies by rolling the can body between tools, typically a roll/roll or a roll/rail of a rotary turret system. During beading, a load is applied along the central axis of the can body, whereby axial and panel performance of the beaded can is improved. This load is applied for example by the use of miniature air bags which are fixed to the turret.

  • Patent number: 7014075
Abstract: A plastic closure for a container mouth is provided with a flow regulator for selectively controlling the flow of contents during dispensing. The flow regulator includes at least two parts which can be moved relative to each other. Each part has at least one dispensing orifice. The parts are constructed such that respective orifices can be aligned at least partially with respect to each other and with respect to the container mouth. The degree of overlap between the respective orifices defines a common dispensing area to control the flow rate during contents dispensing.

  • Patent number: 7004341
Abstract: A composite closure type container assembly that is designed for use with unthreaded containers includes a container having an unthreaded outer surface and an opening that is defined by an upper rim, a sealing disc that is sized and shaped to cover the opening and to seal against the upper rim and a securement member that is removably anchored to the container for securing the sealing disc on the container. In one embodiment, the securement member is removably anchored to the container by using a tight frictional engagement. In a second embodiment, the anchoring is accomplished by shaping the container so as to have a downwardly depending skirt that engages and retains the securement member in position until the container assembly is opened.

  • Patent number: 6976607
Abstract: A cap comprising an upper part (2) having a dispensing orifice (10), a skirt (3) which depends from the upper part (2), a lid (15) connected to the upper part by a hinge (16) so as to be movable between open and closed positions of the orifice (10); tamper-evident band (25) joined to the upper part (2) by frangible straps (30, 32) each having a zone of least resistance for rupture, and which defines a hooking edge (26) in the closed position for receiving a hook (27) carried by the lid (15). The lid includes means (35) for retaining the band (25) in order to hold it against the lid (15) in the closed position and to prevent manipulation of the band to open the lid without rupture of the straps.

  • Patent number: 6974046
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a vented tamper evident closure of the J-hook type to a container involves a closure of the type including a base, a downwardly depending sidewall portion and a tamper evident band. The tamper evident band is frangibly connected to the sidewall portion and includes a main band portion and a J-hook retention member that includes a plurality of retaining elements and a corresponding plurality of flexible web elements. Advantageously, the retention member is originally molded in a first position wherein it is positioned substantially beneath and in alignment with the main band portion of the tamper evident band. This molding position creates substantial manufacturing advantages. When the closure is installed onto the container, the retention member is circumferentially compressed and folds inwardly as it is moved to a second, engaged position wherein it is bent upwardly and inwardly to engage the container.

  • Publication number: 20050268415
Abstract: An improved mascara brush has a typical twisted wire core containing bristles having a double lumen cross-section. The bristles are generally circular in shape, and hollow, with a dividing web across the midpoint of the bristle, thereby defining two longitudinal lumens extending along the length of the bristle. In other embodiments, the bristle is oval, square, rectangular or another polygonal shape.

  • Patent number: 6971558
Abstract: A closure for a container, which has a self-closing valve having a cup-shaped valve head (32) with a dispensing aperture defined therein. In response to increased pressure in the container, the head of the self-closing valve to flatten and partially invert, thereby opening the dispensing aperture (6). The closure (1) includes an energizing ring (5) arrange surrounding the valve head (32) and adapted to restrict the radial expansion thereof. The position and design of the energizing ring (5) relative to the valve head (32) may be adjusted to affect the performance of the valve allowing a single valve design to be used for a number of different applications. Alternatively the energizing ring (5) may be used to improve the performance of a particular design of valve.

  • Patent number: 6923187
Abstract: An improved mascara brush has a typical twisted wire core containing bristles of Z-Shaped cross-section. The Z-shaped cross-section may be a conventional Z-shape; or it may be square or rectangular thereby defining a cross-section of discontinuous square, diamond or polygon shape with a connecting web; or it may be circular or oval thereby defining a cross-section of discontinuous circular shape with a connecting web. In either embodiment the cross-sectional shape effectively creates two longitudinal voids extending along the length of the bristle.
