Patent number: 7771509Abstract: A process for separating O2 from air, that includes the steps effecting an increase in pressure of an air stream, magnetically concentrating O2 in one portion of the pressurized air stream, the one portion then being an oxygen rich stream, and there being another portion of the air stream being an oxygen lean stream, compressing the oxygen rich stream and removing water and carbon dioxide therefrom, to provide a resultant stream, and cryogenically separating said resultant stream into a concentrated oxygen stream and a waste stream.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 2007Date of Patent: August 10, 2010Assignee: Cryogenic Group, Inc.Inventor: Ross M. Brown

Patent number: 7603867Abstract: The process that includes providing the following elements for treating source refrigerated LNG, a heat exchanger/condenser through which refrigerated LNG passes, a vaporizer receiving LNG from the heat exchanger/condenser to produce heating grade LNG product, a distillation column producing distillate condensed in the heat exchanger/condenser to produce vehicle grade LNG, some of which is returned to the distillation column, the distillation column having input of refrigerated LNG, the distillation column having a lower outlet through which produced C2+ is delivered.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2006Date of Patent: October 20, 2009Assignee: Cryogenic Group, Inc.Inventor: Ross M. Brown

Patent number: 7201002Abstract: In combination, pressurized fluid contained in a storage vessel, in both liquid and vapor regions, a heat exchanger in the vapor region of the vessel, and a first pressure regulator having an inlet side in communication with liquid in the vessel, and having an outlet side in communication with the heat exchanger, whereby if pressure in the vessel rises to the setting of the regulator, it opens and admits liquid from the vessel to the heat exchanger, to vaporize in that exchanger causing vapor in the vessel to condense, and reducing pressure in the vessel.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 2003Date of Patent: April 10, 2007Assignee: Cryogenic Group, Inc.Inventor: Ross M. Brown

Patent number: 6986266Abstract: Process and apparatus for separation of LNG allow both maximum enriching of the methane product in methane at any initial LNG composition, and to production the methane product in fully liquid state for the customer.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2003Date of Patent: January 17, 2006Assignee: Cryogenic Group, Inc.Inventor: George B. Narinsky

Patent number: 6925818Abstract: The method of processing air prior to separation of such air into gaseous components, the steps that include: first compressing a stream of air and cooling the compressed air, to enable water separation and removal from the stream, to provide a dry stream of air; then further compressing the dry air stream and cooling the compressed dry air stream to enable removal of contained remanent water; then expanding the cooled air stream in an expansion stage which extracts work from the expanding stream; then passing the expanded air stream to a separator operating to remove water from the stream, thereby producing dry air passed to a component gas separation stage or stages.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2003Date of Patent: August 9, 2005Assignee: Cryogenic Group, Inc.Inventor: Ross Brown

Patent number: 6592654Abstract: The method of separating liquid from gas in a flow stream, that includes expanding the flow stream at a first zone to reduce flow stream pressure and increase flow stream velocity; centrifugally separating liquid from gas in the expanded flow stream, in a second zone; and increasing the pressure of the gas, from which liquid has been separated, by converting kinetic energy of the gas into pressure, at a third zone.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 2001Date of Patent: July 15, 2003Assignee: Cryogenic Group Inc.Inventor: Ross Brown

Patent number: 5575626Abstract: A cryogenic pump is disclosed for pumping liquified gas from one container to another container or a point of use. The pump comprises a series of chambers and coupling valves for progressively pumping a liquified gas from an inlet end located within and adjacent to the bottom of the container to an outlet conduit. The pump arrangement allows the container to be substantially emptied thereby avoiding waste of the contained liquified gas.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1995Date of Patent: November 19, 1996Assignee: Cryogenic Group, Inc.Inventors: Bruce G. Brown, Robert E. Crowl, Phillip J. Westermann

Patent number: 5511955Abstract: A cryogenic pump capable of operating with a sub-zero net positive suction head includes a reciprocating piston positioned in a cylindrical housing for dividing the interior of the housing into a supercharger chamber and an evacuation chamber on opposite sides of the piston. A supercharger chamber valve, positioned directly behind the reciprocating piston, controls the flow of liquified gas from a gas inlet into the supercharger chamber. A fixed piston, extending into the evacuation chamber, engages a cylindrical skirt carried by the reciprocating piston to form a high pressure chamber between the two pistons. Liquified case from the high pressure chamber is supplied to a gas outlet via a passageway in the fixed piston.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 1995Date of Patent: April 30, 1996Assignee: Cryogenic Group, Inc.Inventors: Bruce G. Brown, Robert E. Crowl, Phillip J. Westermann

Patent number: 5137052Abstract: The invention defines a position-indicating valve handle that is adapted to be mounted to the free end of a valve stem, wherein the handle includes a spiral groove in which a steel ball is free to move when the handle is turned by gravitational or magnetic force so that the ball will remain at a fixed point within the spiral groove (such as the lowest point where the handle is angularly disposed to the horizontal and gravitational force is used) as the handle is rotated. A transparent plate with indicia thereon is positioned to cover the spiral groove and allow the operator to visually determine by means of the location of the ball the approximate position of the valve stem within the body of the valve.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 1992Date of Patent: August 11, 1992Assignee: Cryogenic Group Inc.Inventor: Jurgen Baumgart
