Publication number: 20020080082Abstract: A radio unit for computer systems for receiving and/or presenting data information transmitted within a commercial broadcast band and methods of manufacturing and using the same. The radio unit comprises an integrated antenna system, a first radio receiver, and an interface system for removably connecting the radio unit to a computer system. The integrated antenna system includes a first set of windings, a second set of windings, and a ferrite core with a first region and a second region. To reduce parasitic capacitance among the windings, the first set of windings are wound substantially in a first direction about a circumference of the first region, and the second set of windings are wound substantially in a second direction, substantially opposite said first direction, about a circumference of the second region and are coupled with the first set of windings at a junction between the first region and the second region.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 28, 2002Publication date: June 27, 2002Applicant: Cue CorporationInventors: Steven J. Davis, Gordon E. Kaiser

Patent number: 6411220Abstract: A traffic paging system for audibly disseminating real-time traffic information and methods of manufacturing and using the same. The traffic paging system comprises a route-entry system, a receiver system, and an audio system. The route-entry system permits a user to specify one or more preselected routes. After receiving the real-time traffic information, the receiver system converts a relevant portion of the real-time traffic information that is specific to the preselected routes into audio traffic information. The audio system then audibly presents the audio traffic information to the user.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2000Date of Patent: June 25, 2002Assignee: Cue CorporationInventors: Steven J. Davis, Gordon E. Kaiser

Patent number: 6307890Abstract: The present invention provides a system for multiplexing DARC encoded source channels using an FM subcarrier, wherein the system includes a plurality of channels. Each channel within the plurality of channels is coupled to its own DARC encoded source channel. Within each channel of the system, the DARC encoded source channel is block encoded to produce parity and data bytes. The parity bytes and data bytes are separately trellis code modulated to form a first and second set of complex signals, respectively. A first digital modulator modulates a first set of orthogonal signals using the first set of complex signals. A second digital modulates a second set of orthogonal signals using the second set of complex signals.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 1999Date of Patent: October 23, 2001Assignee: Cue CorporationInventors: Timothy F. Dyson, Steven J. Davis, Gordon E. Kaiser
