Abstract: A liner machine for applying a sealing compound to a can end or lid. The liner machine includes a motor drive dual turret system. The turret system is installed at the top of a table or platform surface and two turrets rotate in opposition directions from one another, simultaneously or independently at same or different times. Each turret includes a plurality of workstations which extend out from each turret facing away from each other. The workstations receive an individual lid, which is delivered via a starwheel from a downstacker to each turret system. Each rotates in a direction that is opposite the direction that its respective turret system rotates, and in a direction that is opposite the direction that the other starwheel rotates. Sealant injectors in the turret systems apply sealant to each lid as the lids rotate around each turret system.

Abstract: A vacuum chuck adapted for mounting on a lower turret assembly. The lower turret assembly is part a sealant liner applicator. The sealant liner applicator includes an upper turret assembly and a sealant gun, under computer control. The sealant gun is used for applying a sealant around a periphery of an inside of a can or jar lid. The vacuum chuck includes in one embodiment an impeller, with spiral vanes, for creating vacuum air. The impeller is mounted on top of a lower chuck. A top portion of the impeller is adapted for receiving the can lid and held thereon using the vacuum air produced when the impeller and the lower chuck are spun at high speeds, in a range of 1000 to 4000 rpm, on a lower turret assembly.

Abstract: A magnetic sealant liner applicator used for applying sealant to a plurality of metal lids. The applicator receiving the metal lids from an infeed conveyor and discharging the metal lids with sealant thereon to a discharge conveyor. The applicator includes a motor driven starwheel. The starwheel is mounted on top of a tabletop and driven in one direction. The starwheel has a plurality of cam followers spaced apart and extending outwardly from its circumference. The cam followers include cam follower bearings adapted for receiving a portion of individual metal lids thereagainst. A plurality of sealant guns are mounted on the starwheel. The sealant guns are under computer control and are disposed next to said cam followers. The sealant guns apply the sealant inside the metal lids. A motor driven magnetic wheel is mounted on top of the tabletop and disposed under the starwheel. The magnetic wheel is driven in an opposite direction from the starwheel.
