Publication number: 20130100567Abstract: A system for protecting electrical power distribution circuits and loads electrically connected thereto comprises a circuit breaker or fuse in series with an over current protection device, for example a virtual circuit breaker. The circuit breaker or fuse provides protection against a short circuit condition, and the virtual circuit breaker provides against excess current. Separating the two protection means enables providing a higher current allowance for loads connected to outlets on a branch circuit.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 23, 2011Publication date: April 25, 2013Applicant: CYBER SWITCHING, INC.Inventors: GREGORY A. REYNOLDS, CHARLES H. REYNOLDS

Publication number: 20110062780Abstract: A power distribution unit (PDU) is disclosed wherein the PDU includes an interactive display and communications capability. The display is interactive. A touch screen allows a user to make selections of data, commands, and modes to view, as well as enter commands. Some versions include audio and video capability, allowing two people from distant locations to interact. Ports for USB, Ethernet, wifi, Bluetooth provide for various methods of interconnectivity. An energy metering and control board controls each PDU outlet and measures many parameters related to the power of each outlet. The data obtained is used to calculate the power of a three phase power source using no other hardware resources.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 17, 2009Publication date: March 17, 2011Applicant: CYBER SWITCHING, INC.Inventors: Christopher Eugene VERGES, Gregory A. REYNOLDS, John DOVALA

Publication number: 20100214109Abstract: A current protection apparatus (200) and current protection method (1000) that may include programmable current protection characteristics has been disclosed. A current protection apparatus (200) may include a power distribution unit (230) with power distribution outlets (PDO-1 to PDO-8), each having a corresponding circuit breaker unit (CB1 to CB8). Each circuit breaker unit (CB1 to CB8) may operate in response to a processing unit (236) that can sample current values flowing between a respective power distribution outlet (PDO-1 to PDO-8) and a load device (LD1 to LD8). Processing unit 236 may operate under control of software stored on a memory (238) to control a switching circuit (320). Current protection characteristics for each circuit breaker unit may be independently programmed and/or altered by a user, for example by way of a computer (250).Type: ApplicationFiled: January 8, 2010Publication date: August 26, 2010Applicant: CYBER SWITCHING, INC.Inventors: Gregory A. Reynolds, Charles H. Reynolds, Ron L. Silorio
