At least one circuit (54, 332) of the device is operative to cause a determination to be made that check data and/or record document data corresponds to stored data. Responsive to the determination, check data and record data is made available to a payee terminal (346).

Responsive to the determination, a check amount that is determined from read check data is added to an account of a vendor associated with delivered goods.

    Abstract: A method for processing paper payments is provided. The method may include, by a payment processing apparatus, preloading account data for accounts for which a payment may be received, extracting payment details on a payment document, and identifying an account for a payment based on at least the preloaded account data. The method may additionally include providing the ability for a user to correct or validate a payment, as well as providing various searching capabilities for a user to accurately identify an account. The method may also include identifying physical characteristics of a payment, and/or a payment source, and generating an output file to be used in a payment posting process. Corresponding systems, apparatuses, and computer program products are also provided.
