  • Patent number: 6201832
Abstract: In a data detection apparatus for use in a magnetic recording/playback system, an A/D converter converts an analog playback signal into digital playback data at a sampling rate in accordance with a previously obtained (i−1)st sampling clock signal (SCSi−1) to provide an ith sample value (Si). An interpolation filter performs interpolation filtering on the Si based on a previously obtained (i−1)st phase error (PE) signal (PEi−1) to provide an ith interpolated sample value (ISi) and an ith hold signal (Hi) under a predetermined hold condition in an asynchronous mode (ASM). An equalization channel (EC) equalizes the ISi by using a partial response 4 method either based on a previously obtained (i−1)st error signal (Ei−1) in a synchronous mode or based on the Ei−1 and a previously obtained (i-1)st hold signal (Hi−1) in ASM to supply an ith equalized sample value (ESi).

  • Patent number: 6201776
Abstract: An apparatus for reproducing program data recorded on an optical disc at a multiple velocity without a deterioration of a screen quality is disclosed. Storing section stores data which relates to rotation and reproduction velocity for normal and multiple velocity reproductions of the optical disc. Maincontroller checks whether or not a reproduction mode signal indicates the multiple velocity reproduction, and outputs rotation and reproduction velocity data signals corresponding to the checked reproduction mode signal. Velocity controller outputs rotation and reproduction velocity control signals and a memory control signal corresponding to the checked reproduction mode signal based on the rotation and reproduction velocity data signals. Rotating section rotates the optical disc at a rotation velocity determined by a present reproduction velocity signal and the rotation velocity control signal.

  • Patent number: 6198780
Abstract: An apparatus efficiently performs symbol timing recovery of sampled data included in a vestigial sideband (VSB) signal. Each of the sampled data is first filtered to output a positive and a negative band edge filtered components thereof. Thereafter, the negative band edge filtered component is processed to obtain a conjugate complex component; and the positive band edge filtered component is multiplied by the conjugate complex component to provide a multiplied component as symbol timing information. Finally, each of the sampled data is corrected based on the symbol timing information to generate interpolated data thereon as the timing recovered data.

  • Patent number: 6191934
Abstract: High dielectric constant capacitors are made from a dielectric ink of lead-magnesium-niobate and lead oxide powders. Dielectric inks are made by mixing the dielectric powders with a suitable organic vehicle which can be used to coat one or more glass-based green tapes. Buried capacitors are made by coating an overlying and an underlying green tape with a conductor such as silver. Capacitors can also be made by adjusting the organic vehicle and forming a green tape from the dielectric powders. These dielectric green tapes each can be coated with a conductive layer and stacked, the conductive layers connected in parallel. The resultant multilayer capacitors have a very high dielectric constant, while eliminating the need for very large area capacitors, as compared to single layer capacitors.

  • Patent number: 6175572
Abstract: A method for allocating bandwidth to virtual channels by using a bandwidth allocation table in an ATM network, wherein the bandwidth allocation table has a main table divided into a multiplicity of entries and each entry has a plurality of sub-tables, checks a flag of an entry of the main table. If the flag has a first value, an index of a virtual channel recorded at the entry of the main table is read and if the flag has a second value, an entry of a sub-table at which the index of the virtual channel is recorded is detected and the index is read. • Patent number: 6172492
Abstract: A dual mode converter is provided that may be operated as a variable-frequency, naturally-commutated controller in a Zero-Voltage-Switching mode and as a fixed-off-time controller in a Fixed-Off-Time mode. The converter includes four functional elements. A reference and biases element generates voltage references and biases utilized to determine various signal states. A Timing element generates a fixed off time signal and a voltage ramp signal utilized to create the dual modes of operation. A Catastrophic-Event element detects events that cause the converter output be inhibited and the controller to be restarted. A Mode Detection and Pulse Width Modulation element determines the mode of operation for the converter based on signal inputs from the other functional elements and modulates the output accordingly. In a primary mode, the controller utilizes variable frequency operation to deliver primary power. In a standby mode, the controller utilizes fixed frequency operation to provide low power (less than 5W).
