Patent number: 7626542Abstract: A method and receiver are disclosed for mitigating or substantially canceling signal interference between signals detected at the receiver. Once a presumed interfering signal(s) is acquired, parameters are determined that allow the interferer(s) to be modeled. The phase invariance of the process eliminates the need to acquire the interferer's phase. An orthogonal projection (for projecting onto a detection subspace which is orthogonal to a subspace spanned by the interferer(s)) is applied to the composite of all signals (y) for thereby projecting y onto the detection subspace. The interference subspace is non-orthogonal to a representation of desired (but interfered) signal of the composite signals. With the receiver properly equipped to perform this projection operation, interfering signals, multipath, multipath-like, and structured jamming signals can be effectively diminished.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2006Date of Patent: December 1, 2009Assignee: Data Fusion CorporationInventors: Wolfgang Kober, Robert Kent Krumvieda, Lewis Reynolds, Steven Alan Kadlec

An orthogonal projection (for projecting onto a subspace orthogonal to that spanned by the interferer(s)) is applied to the composite of all signals (y) for thereby projecting y onto this subspace, wherein the subspace is non-orthogonal to a representation of desired (but interfered) signal of the composite signals. With the receiver properly equipped to perform this projection operation, interfering signals, multipath, spoofing and/or meaconing can be effectively diminished.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2002Date of Patent: August 3, 2004Assignee: Data Fusion CorporationInventors: Wolfgang Kober, John K. Patent number: 6549151Abstract: The method and apparatus of the present invention is directed to architectures for signal processing, such as for performing analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversions, in which the source signal is decomposed into subband signals by an analysis filter, processed, and the processed subband signals combined to form a reconstructed signal that is representative of the source signal.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 2001Date of Patent: April 15, 2003Assignee: Data Fusion CorporationInventors: Wolfgang Kober, John K. Thomas

Publication number: 20020176488Abstract: The architecture of the present invention is premised upon an algorithm involving integration of oblique correlators and RAKE filtering to null interference from other spread spectrum signals. The oblique correlator is, of course, based on the non-orthogonal projections that are optimum for nulling structured signals such as spread spectrum signals. RAKE filtering is used to rapidly steer the beam of the multi-antenna system and to mitigate the effects of multipath.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 8, 2002Publication date: November 28, 2002Applicant: DATA FUSION CORPORATION.Inventors: Wolfgang Kober, John K. Thomas, Marvin L. Vis
